Abbott also operates its product manufacturing segment known as Abbott Point-of-Care. It manufactures diagnostic products for blood analysis. It also provides cardiac assays to the emergency room. It currently has 90,000 employees and operates in over 130 countries. Abbott was established in 1888 by Chicago physician Wallace Calvin Abbott. It is based in Abbott Park, North Chicago, Illinois.
