The Opportunity

Abbott Nutrition is looking for a Retail Excellence Manager (REM) EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa). As a part of the Area commercial team based in Maidenhead, as the REM you will be responsible to optimize the trade investment and improving net sales realization across EMEA ANI business with a focus on the Out-Of-Pocket / Retail business.

This role will require you to establish transparent trade investment as well as making ROI/profitability enhancing trade investment decisions.

As the REM you will be responsible for supporting the Affiliate commercial teams to meet their financial targets. You will work as part of a cross functional team, liaising with affiliate sales, area and affiliate finance, eCommerce, and Marketing functions.

What You’ll Do

  • Optimise Gross to Net Trade Investment as % of Net Sales

  • Reduce non-conditional rebates.

  • Increase effectiveness of conditional rebates/trade investments (e.g., via optimizing counterparts such as listings, shelf presence & visibility, promotion timing & mechanics, promotion pricing and placement)

  • Create win-wins with retailers that enable structural reduction of conditional rebates (e.g. logistic, waste reduction, data partnerships, …)

  • Drive mix (product, customer, country)

  • Develop and define ROI benchmarks to drive sales & margin efficiencies.

  • Optimise trade investment booked in SG&A

  • Increase effectiveness of trade media & trade marketing investments

  • Establish clear definition of trade investment accounting principles

  • Ensure planning & accruals of trade investments is reflected in financial planning & reporting

  • Ensure customer P&L reporting is in place for key EMEA affiliates & retail customers

  • Set & ensure Pricing (including promotion) principles across EMEA & total Abbott Nutrition that minimizes exposure for cross-border shipments

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor/Masters degree, preferably with focus on business management.

  • Experience in retail sales roles of FMCG with responsibilities of key account management, trade marketing and finance controller.

  • Experience in a similar role in healthcare or FMCG industry.

  • Understanding of retail market landscape and commercial engagement

  • Understanding of retail sales performance management principles

  • Ability to make appropriate risk/benefit/return-on-investment assessment

  • Anticipates issues and recognizes needs; proficient at solving problems

  • Experience with financial data and retail contracts (including Joint Business Plans). Demonstrated ability to work as a leader in an international organization with defined functional processes and procedures as well as in matrix organization, able to motivate and inspire local team members to high performance levels.

  • Excellent organizational, planning, analytical and project management skills with an attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to effectively lead multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously.
