Our site in Santa Clara, CA is looking for a Senior Staff Scientist - Real World Evidence and Data Science.
THIS IS AN ON-SITE DAILY ROLE.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
You will work within the Abbott Global Data Science & Analytics team with a focus on medical devices in the coronary and peripheral vascular space. You will lead and execute data analytics projects that generate impactful evidence and insights related to medical device technology, relevant disease states, and healthcare economics. You will collaborate with peers within the function, across the organization, and thought leaders outside the company. You will work with different types of data, developing creative ways to analyze and present your results. You will lead development of regulatory protocols and reports, conference presentations, and scientific manuscripts. You will also support digital health initiatives. Your work will support healthcare decisions by patients, physicians, health authorities, payers, and policy makers.
Main responsibilities will include:
Data Analytics
- Lead and complete advanced data analytics projects related to medical devices, focused on coronary and peripheral vascular devices
- Design and implement real-world evidence studies
- Work with varied data types, including insurance claims data, electronic health records, imaging data, and clinical study or registry data
- Support digital health and data science initiatives
Strategy and Communication
- Build strategy for real-world evidence generation across vascular products
- Lead preparation of protocols and reports, conference presentations, and scientific manuscripts
- Communicate with regulatory and reimbursement agencies on study design and results
- Mentor other scientists on dataset selection, study design, and presentation of results
- Collaborate with peers within the function, across the organization and outside the company on projects
- Present to internal and external stakeholders with varied backgrounds
- Cultivate relationships with key opinion leaders in the industry
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING:
Desired skills:
- Excellent data wrangling and analysis skills
- Strong knowledge of statistical methods
- Experience with analytical software tools such as R, SAS, Python, SQL. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Databricks is a plus
- Ability to come up with innovative data analysis and presentation strategies
- Excellent written skills, with proven ability to prepare protocols and/or scientific manuscripts
- Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to speak with experts in the field
- Experience working in a regulated environment a plus
- Knowledge of vascular medical devices a plus
Minimum qualifications required:
- Ph.D. and 8+ years of experience or MS and 12+ years of experience in biomedical engineering, health sciences, epidemiology, bioinformatics, or related field

The base pay for this position is $125,700.00 – $251,500.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
