Job Description

The Controller, US Market Access partners with the US Market Access leadership team to drive the achievement of AbbVie US sales (~$40B) and price for all branded products with a particular focus on our growth platform products. This requires an ability to synthesize brand strategy, market access strategy, and corporate finance imperatives to help guide the Market Access team to drive patient access while meeting corporate sales and profitability goals.

Key Responsibilities include:

Lead Finance Business Partner for MAx leadership team

  • Primary finance business partner to US Market Access leadership team
  • Streamline and enhance collaboration and accuracy of Market Access (MAx) connection to the broader Finance organization and planning cycles while helping MAx maintain strategic focus
  • Provide strategic guidance on the pricing and contracting strategies in conjunction with each Franchise and the US Market Access team for key products and customer channels.
  • Educate MAx leads on financial processes and governance, particularly as new products and organizations (Epkinly, Immunogen) are added to the existing business
  • Build an effective network within Pricing and Contracting and across marketing and sales, US finance and legal department to maximize organizational efficiency and alignment

Contracting lifecycle

  • As part of Market Access leadership team, ensure market access strategy is in-line with corporate strategy during latter stages of contract co-creation phase
  • Support Market Access senior management (Corporate Account Leads, MAx Lead, MAx Marketing leads) to effectively communicate and gain alignment within matrixed organization to maximize patient access while considering brand profitability goals
  • Manage the reporting and consolidation of contract deals to provide total inclusion of all negotiated terms and conditions consistent with good business practices; (i) ensuring that contract terms are consistent with established guidelines; (ii) ensuring that contract terms are consistent with Medicaid Best Price strategies; (iii) ensuring that all contracts have had appropriate level of review with management, OEC and legal prior to issuing to account when required.
  • Ensures governance process and analytics are robust across all therapeutic areas while compiling marketing, sales, finance presentation in an expedient and finance centric viewpoint

MAx Financial Cycles

  • Translate Financial Process iterations and recycle communication (eg. LRP Post Exec) and deliver back to MAx Team and MAx stakeholders
  • Ensures communication and alignment of all planning cycles across MABI, Market Access, Finance
  • Provide guidance and management review to the monthly LBE, annual Plan and LRP processes, including validation of projected rebate levels and tracking of Anticipated Additional Rebates (AARs) in order to highlight MAx areas of risk and opportunity. This is a critical process that receives senior management exposure in later stages of planning cycles

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:

  • Management of multiple stakeholders within AbbVie planning cycles and contracting lifecycles

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive Accounting/Finance and Market Access or Pricing and Contracting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort presenting to various levels of executive management
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, planning and decision-making skills.
  • Extensive interpersonal skills
  • The ability to manage multiple activities and due dates amid shifting priorities and tight timelines.
  • A highly motivated self-starter who can translate broad directions into high quality analytical output.
  • Planning and forecasting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Model N, RELAY, MA’RC, Qlikview preferred.

Education Requirements:

BA/BS in Finance or Accounting. MBA/CPA preferred.
