Job Description

The role

The Business Finance Manager is responsible for the financial planning and analysis processes and requirements for one supported business unit of AbbVie Scandinavia. HE or she will provide financial guidance in compliance with financial policies, provides business decision support and lead key projects and initiatives to improve financial processes.

The Business Finance Manager interacts with all levels of finance, and acts as a business partner to the business and is the main copilot and driver of the business together with Business Unit Director and Brand Managers for one or several therapeutic areas and product portfolios. This role is focused on Scandinavia but requires analysis and understanding of the three individual markets Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.

Responsibilities will cover:

  • P&L Management:
    • Proactively provide suggestions for maximizing revenue and optimizing spend across the business.
    • Manage Brand P&Ls, maintaining an overview of budget and spending (including all forecasting cycles and reporting).
    • Educate Brand Teams about P&L and encourage ownership, compares demand actuals with forecast and flags deviations to Brand Team and identify causes.
  • Strategic decision partnering:
    • Manage Brand Finance Strategy together with Business Unit Director and ad-hoc involvement in key decisions for Brands/Functions.
    • Provide strategic decision partnering to brand Teams (also engaging with external stakeholders), for example pricing decisions, involvement in new product / indication launches, etc.
    • Market & competition analysis in close cooperation with Commercial teams, Market Access and other stakeholders.
    • Active Brand Team member, providing suggestions and challenging all Brand related activities.
    • Financial compliance: Provide Financial Approval on commitments.
  • Financial Reporting & Data Interpretation:
    • Lead all planning and reporting activities for the brand and work closely with affiliate FP&A team and Area Finance team.
    • Analyzing variances between planned sales / expenses and actual outcome and supporting the implementation of corrective actions.
    • Analysis of market & competition data together with Customer Excellence team, Market Access, Brand teams.

Demand management:

  • Owns Brand total sales together with Brand Team.

Qualifications

To be successful in this position, it is crucial that you are a self-starter with ability to operate independently, drive processes, identify and implement process improvements. You thrive in a high paced environment and are used to adjust priorities to be able to achieve objectives and operate with speed and agility.

We also expect you to fulfill the below requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive and related experience.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written), with all levels of management and including the ability to listen well and to influence others that do not report directly.
  • Proficient skills in Excel, PowerBI and centralized planning systems. Knowledge of SAP is an advantage.
  • Good reading and writing in English are a requirement and preferably good skills in one of the Scandinavian languages.
  • Preferred experience within Life Science industry or another international environment.
