We are looking for a Senior Facilities Operator to coordinate and manage the maintenance of our facilities, including preventative maintenance and ad hoc repairs to ensure building efficiency. Responding to facilities inquiries and requests from various teams, the ideal candidate has strong technical, organizational, communication, and customer service skills and has extensive experience coordinating work with trades and contractors.

How you might spend your days

  • Overseeing building repair and maintenance work of the facilities’ structure, equipment and grounds, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC
  • Performing skilled trades work, such as carpentry or painting in the construction, repair or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs, or office fixtures
  • Coordinating and performing daily floor inspections/walk-throughs, as well as regular inspections (including workspace/service bay, fire safety, elevators, generator, HVAC, etc.)
  • Communicating and coordinating with our teams to manage their facility needs and contributing to guidelines and policies to support building operations
  • Liaising with cleaning vendors for cleaning of common areas (e.g., kitchen, coffee areas) and furniture, and coordination of specialized intensive cleaning requests
  • Obtaining and reviewing price quotes for the procurement of parts, services, and labor for projects
  • Coordinating deliveries, moves, renovations, furniture repairs, and new equipment installations and assisting with packing/unpacking as needed
  • Managing and attending to after hours building emergencies or alarms and service requests (e.g. freight elevator deliveries)

We'd love to hear from you if

  • You have 6+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing plant operation (steam plant, production, maintenance, quality, safety, and environmental compliance) or similar industry
  • You have a valid Technical Safety BC Class IV Power Engineering certificate or higher
  • You are detail-oriented and have a can-do, proactive approach to resolving issues
  • You have excellent documentation and organizational skills, and thrive in a team setting
  • You successfully juggle multiple tasks and are appreciated for your outstanding time management skills
  • You have the physical strength to lift and move boxes weighing up to 50 pounds and a valid driver’s license

What we offer

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $77,800 - $98,000 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.
