About the Department & Team:
The Early-Stage Process Development Department plays a crucial role in bringing new drugs from concepts to patients, with projects ranging from early pre-clinical development through clinical studies. The department is responsible for cell line development, early-stage process development, and manufacturability assessment.
The department is composed by three interdisciplinary teams. In this role, you will be part of the team responsible also for microbial processes, in addition to mammalian projects.
You will be part of a group of highly dedicated technicians and scientists collaborating on development and optimization of processes. The teams are driving the projects, and you will experience close collaboration within the team between different technical disciplines. We collaborate with various stakeholders such as Analytical Method Development, Process Transfer, and Manufacturing. You will experience a dynamic and flexible working place with many opportunities to both contribute and develop.
About the position:
As an Upstream (Senior) Scientist within Early-Stage Process Development you will be responsible for multiple upstream projects, from shake flasks, to bioreactors, to pilot scale (up to 200 L). You will participate in multi-disciplinary project teams including downstream, analytical, process transfer, QA and manufacturing scientists working in close collaboration with the clients’ scientific teams.
The team is covering both mammalian and microbial cell culture projects. Depending on the future needs you will be involved in cell line development using both our proprietary CHEF1 system as well as the clients’ cell lines. The cell lines will be further evaluated and optimized in bioreactors for subsequent transfer to our manufacturing facility. The work also includes evaluation and optimization of our platform processes and technologies.
Responsibilities and tasks include:
- Planning, coordination and execution of activities and experiments
- Verbal and written reporting to clients
- Strategic technology development
- Technical guidance within the team and project teams
- Technical advice to business development
About you:
The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or related scientific/technical background. In addition you have:
- A minimum of 3 years relevant experience from the industry
- Demonstrated strong expertise within molecular biology and cell line development
- An understanding of biopharmaceutical manufacturing
- Awareness of GMP requirements
- A desire to take on new tasks and responsibilities
- Customer mindset
- Bioreactor experience is essential
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Full working proficiency in English, both written and spoken
