As a Product Specialist (PS) for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), supporting the Agilent Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry product lines, you will use your technical expertise in GC (and other gas phase related techniques) and MS and your sales acumen to develop and implement successful strategies to sell complex GC-MS workflow solutions to meet sales targets and drive a successful customer experience with Agilent. Concurrently you will design and execute successful business development strategies to grow the medium- and longer-term funnel of opportunities.

Your hands-on technical knowledge of GC and GCMS will be invaluable, preferably with an MS/MS (QQQ or Q-TOF or other HR MS technology) and you will be able to support customers and their applications in the lab as and when required. You are passionate to lead Agilent’s region strategy to grow our footprint in key markets.

In this role you will:

  • Develop and execute a strategic territory business plan that will enable the achievement of GCMS sales targets for ANZ and sales funnel health.
  • Help your customers and their journey with Agilent GC and GCMS. You are keen to develop your technical skills and applications expertise in order effectively position the portfolio and workflows and to support hands-on applications in the customer lab.
  • Be able to consult to customers with a high level of enthusiasm and technical expertise and to deliver marketing events either virtually or face to face which will require you to work across the sales teams, region marketing groups, and application specialists within Agilent.
  • Be a team player, and your specialist expertise will contribute to the success of Agilent’s regional GC and GCMS business.
  • Travel up to 50% within ANZ, the South Asia Pacific region and global Agilent offices when necessary.
  • Be responsible for Agilent’s complex and valve based GC configurations and to ensure that they align to customers analytical expectations.
  • Be responsible for defining the application deliverables to meet the expectations of the customer to ensure continuing customer satisfaction and the implementation of key features in the implemented workflow.
  • Conduct product, workflow and solution presentations to customers that have been planned strategically to address their requirements and to win the opportunity.
  • Understand the customer requirements and lead with Sales and the Application Scientist teams the strategy for sample analysis and/or demonstration. Key objective is to close the opportunity after one demonstration.
  • Understand Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry applications in food, environmental, chemical and energy, materials, forensic and toxicology, pharmaceutical and life science market segments and recognize trends that impact buying of Agilent products.
  • Project Leadership to drive Agilent portfolio growth in selected markets.

Qualifications

  • Typically, at least 8+ years relevant experience for entry to this level.
  • PhD, Master and/or University Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biological Science or related equivalent qualification.
  • Experience of selling GC-MS either directly or in a sales supporting role will be beneficial.
  • You will need to be comfortable delivering seminars, workshops and leading technical discussions both internally and with our customers.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of GC-MS workflows and applications experience in applied markets applications areas, especially environmental associated analytical workflows (eg: VOC, sVOC) and across different MS platforms (MSD, QQQ and QTOF) with a good understanding of the (Australian & Global) industry regulatory drivers.
  • You can articulate how to further strengthen Agilent's position for GC and GCMS opportunities in this competitive market.
  • Practical hands-on laboratory experience in GC-MSMS (QQQ, Q-TOF or HR-MS or both). Knowledge of non-target and unknown screening workflows will be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of gas analysis using multicolumn-GC with valves would be advantageous.
  • Proven teamwork among diverse teams and the ability to work with fellow colleagues from science, engineering and sales backgrounds and from ANZ and regionally.
  • Although you will be providing pre-sales technical support to our sales organization and customers, you will have opportunities to challenge yourself in our customers’ labs providing excellent after-sales applications consulting. In some cases, these activities will require travel to countries within the region.
