The Marketing Director is responsible for the marketing/communications strategy and tactics for selected genetic programs in Germany, working closely with the Country Manager, the Sales Director and the international marketing team. The role is hands-on with a focus on strategic planning, forecasting, generating market insights, collaborating with International and Global teams, adapting the international strategy to the German market, cross-functional alignment with Medical, Sales, Market Access and Regulatory, and leading the execution of the local tactical plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure flawless implementation of the German TTR plan in line with the international TTR plan and in cooperation with cross-functional stakeholders in the international region
  • Own the annual promotional budget, conducting ROI assessments of tactical programs and ensures proper execution
  • Hands-on support support in planning and organizing external events, as well as in creating training materials and concepts for HCPs, patients and nurses
  • Responsible for the local strategic brand plan in close cross-functional collaboration
  • Analyze the market, competition and stakeholders thereby leveraging all available tools of primary and secondary market research as well as in-field information provided by the commercial and medical teams and from KOLs.
  • Create and defend concise and winning brand specific business plans and business cases to secure project funding within and beyond the annual investment plan process
  • Build and lead cross-functional brand teams and ensure high level of engagement, alignment and customization of strategies and tactics that reflect key customer and market needs
  • Represent Germany at international meetings, articulate German market and customer needs and asks and exert influence on the international brand strategy; leverage key learnings and opportunities from other markets to drive the German business
  • Drive the development and implementation of an omnichannel communication plan (digital & print)
  • Partner with legal, regulatory, and compliance stakeholders to ensure compliant development and execution of marketing initiatives
  • Take ownership of the review process to ensure marketing materials are cleared for promotional use and secure final production
  • Foster regular exchange with the field force to continuously support execution in the field
  • Leverage best practices from within the commercial organization and continually foster learning from industry best practices
  • Demonstrate excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects and priorities

Qualifications

  • University degree in life sciences, business or a related field
  • Outstanding analytical and strategic thinking combined with strong execution leadership
  • Hands-on mentality and willingness to take responsibility for strategic and operational topics
  • Extensive marketing experience in the pharmaceutical / biotech industry
  • Knowledge and experience in rare diseases, cardiology or neurology strongly preferred
  • Proven track record in pharmaceutical product and project management, and/or sales is required.
  • Strong network/matrix stakeholder communications skills with both regional and in-country teams
  • Strong business and financial acumen, coupled with relentless external customer, patient focus and negotiation skills
  • Pronounced resilience, positive and solution focused thinking and acting
  • Ability to engage and manage multiple stakeholders (internal/external) and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously to achieve defined business goals
  • Curious with learning agility, sense of urgency, ethics and responsibility
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time locally and internationally
