What you will do

The role takes place in the ACCP (Amgen Capability Center Portugal) Leadership Team. It serves as an air traffic controller for the ACCP General Manager and the Leadership Team, as a driver of business excellence in the operations and an integrator connecting workstreams aimed at continuous improvement and innovation that would otherwise remain siloed, as a communicator connecting and supporting the leadership team and the broader organization, as an honest broker and truth teller when the leaders need a wide-ranging view without turf considerations, as a confidant without an organizational agenda.

The role and its team chip in via a continuous improvement and innovation roadmap, accompanying initiatives, solutions, proposals and expert support in delivering on the found opportunities in all areas where ACCP gets involved. The role and its team bring deep know-how of improvement and innovation methods, processes and tools.

Next, the job has the accountability for leading the FP&A and reporting processes, addressing systemic challenges & process limitations, as well as bringing wide-range of innovation into the way the country/subregional/regional teams’ work across the ex-US markets, as to better lead the overall workload issue in this sphere.

The Business Excellence Lead is responsible for independently driving business process excellence by collaborating with global functions, ex-US regions, and US functions. The lead is responsible to drive implementation of Global-2-Local projects using available resources at the capability center.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Continuous Improvement

  • Accountable for the development of a service, performance and growth culture by establishing change and innovation as core values within the ACCP, which will support the focus on user experience.
  • Facilitate the governance of Amgen's leadership team ACCP: work with ACCP General Manager to organize Leadership Team and governance to achieve strategic objectives, interface for partners on governance-related topics.
  • Support the Leadership team in strategy development & realization, priorities identification, course correction as needed, drive effective decision-making, drive internal and external presentation development, including advisory board, Tier 2 presentations & reports on business performance.
  • Establish and articulate a clear strategy for continuous improvement in process and procedures to drive sustainable productivity over time
  • Collaborate effectively with peers, functional leads and other partners across the organization, demonstrating influence without formal authority to drive initiatives forward
  • Responsible for effectively leading, managing, and developing the Business Excellence Team to achieve dedication and strong engagement.
  • Lead programs and projects at ACCP and international level: transversal coordination with the various leaders, project managers, process planning, support, and advice, monitoring of project progress, and key planning.

2. Service Excellence and Customer Satisfaction

  • Act as a liaison with key partners, including VPs and functional leaders, to ensure clear communication and cultivate collaboration, driving alignment and support for business initiatives.
  • Ensure that the ACCP delivers a customer-focused and efficient service, acting as a partner concern point for customers to raise issues and discuss concerns regarding service delivery.
  • Ensure user experience and satisfaction of ACCP customers is led effectively to build the foundation for a business collaborating relationship with all internal customers.
  • Responsible for the ACCP performance survey with partners to ensure service delivery exceeds their expectations, and process & quality issues are resolved effectively.

3. Financial Planning and Productivity Integration

  • Collaborate with the ACCP Finance Head in the forecasting exercise, including Budget, Long Range Strategy, and Forecasts, to ensure alignment with organizational financial targets and strategic goals.
  • Drive the integration of productivity targets and efficiency gains into the financial planning process, ensuring they are aligned with overall financial objectives.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership, focusing on achieving financial targets through enhanced productivity and efficiency initiatives.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership on financial performance, risk management, and investment decisions.

4. Technology Integration and Process Optimization

  • Champion the introduction of technology in everyday business processes across all ACCP capabilities.
  • For GCO ELMAC, be the initiator for the implementation and maintenance of full-scope financial planning tool, ensuring efficient and seamless operations.
  • Drive the adoption of financial technology solutions, such as Alteryx, Tableau, Databricks, to enhance reporting and data-driven decision-making.
  • Bridge gaps between global, regional, and local financial processes, and challenge the status quo to drive further efficiencies and standardization.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of solid experience in financial planning and analysis, key planning, and process improvement within a global organization.
  • Demonstrates a genuine and strong leadership capability with the ability to build and motivate strong direct and virtual teams to achieve the vision. Experience in leading cross-functional teams and programs & projects at an international level in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate and implement a clear strategy for continuous improvement and process optimization.
  • Expertise in financial management systems and technology solutions, such as financial planning tools and Tableau Dashboards.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to act as a liaison between customers, leadership teams, and cross-functional partners.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining a service and culture of realization within an organization.
  • Capability to lead user experience and satisfaction, ensuring service delivery exceeds expectations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide insights and recommendations on financial performance and risk management.
  • Experience in governance facilitation and supporting leadership teams in strategy development and completion.
  • Ability to evaluate local market needs and develop sustainable, tailor-made financial solutions, using global standard methodologies and experience.
  • Commitment to fostering collaboration between global, regional, and local teams, facilitating knowledge exchange and cross-functional alignment.
