SAP Principal Architect - Procure to Pay
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role, you will help digitally transform Amgen's Procure-to-Pay (P2P) capabilities by being part of the R2O Product Team. As an Ariba and SAP Architect, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing scalable solutions that integrate Ariba and SAP. This role will drive critical initiatives, such as supporting enablement activities for new entities, Ariba CIG SP upgrades, and integration workflows. Roles & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Product Owners and System Architects to develop and maintain the R2O solution architecture, ensuring alignment with business and product goals.
- Lead solution designs for Ariba and SAP integration, addressing key deliverables such as UAT readiness, migrations, and compliance initiatives.
- Provide hands-on support and guidance for Ariba (Guided Buying, CIG) and SAP ECC/S4 HANA configurations.
- Facilitate the breakdown of Epics into Features and Sprint-Sized User Stories, ensuring architectural alignment.
- Act as a technical advisor to address dependencies, risks, and integration challenges within the Procure-to-Pay workstream.
- Maintain and update the roadmap and heatmap for Ariba and SAP platforms, ensuring compliance, scalability, and system health.
- Collaborate with Business SMEs and Product Management to define and prioritize release scopes.
- Drive high-quality architectural solutions ensuring adherence to system architecture guidelines.
- Ensure SOX compliance and governance for Ariba and SAP systems by supporting audit documentation and controls.

Basic Qualifications:
- Master’s degree and 3+ years of information systems or solution architecture experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of information systems or solution architecture experience OR
- Diploma and 8+ years of solution architecture experience.
- Expertise in Ariba Procurement Suite, including Guided Buying, Supplier Lifecycle Performance (SLP), and CIG.
- Strong knowledge of SAP ECC and/or S/4 HANA, with experience in procurement, AP, and integration workflows.
- Proven ability to lead solution architecture for complex global projects involving Ariba and SAP integrations.
- Familiarity with agile tools like Jira and Confluence for backlog management and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with middleware tools like Mulesoft for SAP-Ariba integration.
- Familiarity with indirect tax processes (e.g., VAT, GST) and tax configuration in systems like SAP and Ariba.
- Knowledge of Source-to-Settle automation and process optimization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve technical challenges.
Professional Certifications (Preferred):
- SAP Ariba or SAP S/4 HANA certifications.
- SAFe for Architects or relevant Agile certifications.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to collaborate across global teams and influence outcomes.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
- Team-oriented and focused on delivering high-value solutions.
