Summer Intern, US Medical Analytics

Position Summary

The US Medical Analytics Summer Intern will assist the HQ-based real-world evidence (RWE) team with the development of HEOR strategies and evidence generation that demonstrates the scientific and economic value of Alexion products for US payers, integrated delivery networks, and formulary decision-makers. In addition, the US Medical Analytics Summer Intern will partner with the Medical Excellence Field Systems & Analytics team to analyze US HEOR and Veeva CRM datasets to identify key trends and actionable insights.

Principal Responsibilities

The summer intern will be expected to assist the US HEOR RWE team with implementation of evidence generation strategies.

In particular:

• Documenting and developing research plans that offer robust, differentiated payer evidence
• Shadowing RWE leads in cross-functional engagement with Commercial, Market Access & Medical Affairs colleagues to address strategies for sustaining product access & reimbursement
• Gathering and documenting insights from field and cross-functional colleagues to uncover market access issues, identify access/demand hurdles and fulfill evidence gaps
• Ensuring Alexion maintains external credibility and relationships by:
  • Validating research findings and communications
  • Contributing to the development of publications and/or research presentations at key scientific meetings on behalf of Alexion
  • Monitoring the performance of external agencies to ensure deliverables meet business expectations
• Analyzing datasets, including but not limited to claims, interactions, and insights to assist with strategic decision making
• Supporting the launch of a new Science-Based Partnering Model to drive the clinical application of science, including ways to measure personal development and professional growth
  • Assisting with the creation of a Field Coaching Form in Veeva CRM and training of MSL Managers and MSLs on new administrative processes
  • Brainstorming new visualizations to show progress over time, identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Participating in the development, testing, and deployment of new visualizations within US Medical’s reporting platform

Minimum Qualifications

• Comfortable working in a heavily matrixed environment and solving complex issues that cross multiple stakeholders
• Excellent interpersonal skills, oral/written communication, and presentation skills
• Global mindset and ability to work with multicultural teams
• Flexibility and adaptability to internal and external change

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred Bachelor’s degree in STEM field, public health, or economics

• Understands application and limitations of various sources of US healthcare data
• Familiarity with the US healthcare environment
• Knowledge of the drug development and commercialization process
• Experience in statistics and/or working with large sets of data
