Introduction to Role:
Are you ready to lead and deliver drug discovery and clinical development programmes for the Neuroscience portfolio in indications including neurodegenerative diseases and chronic pain? We're looking for a leader to drive scientific and business strategy, lead a matrix project team, and deliver novel drugs. Accountabilities:
As a Neuroscience Project Leader, you will be responsible for the creation of scientific strategy and tactics, alignment of these with a project plan and budget, and efficient execution of the plan. You will identify, select and manage internal functional experts, collaborators, and vendors as a matrix project team. You will bring a fundamental understanding of drug discovery in neurodegenerative disorders or chronic pain. You will be accountable for the leadership of one or more projects in Discovery and/or Clinical Development.

Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience), MD or PhD in life science, preferably in Neuroscience, Chemistry, Biology or related.
- Drug discovery experience in an industrial setting (either biotech or big pharma) for large or small molecules and other modalities
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong digital literacy/proficiency across multiple programs.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Leadership, organisational, project management skills
- Ability to interact with and influence a broad section of collaborators at all levels including senior managers both internal and external to AZ.
- Basic understanding of study/project finance and accounts
- Ability to network and use multiple resources to identify opportunities for growth and development.
- Experience in Research and early-stage (pre IND and Ph1) Clinical Development Drug Discovery.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
• Experience in the field of Neuroscience
• Experience in neurodegeneration and CNS
• Experience of clinical drug project development and the transition from the preclinical phase
