Join us at AstraZeneca's Biopharmaceuticals Business Unit as a Medical Director, Patient Safety Physician. This role is pivotal in shaping the Clinical Safety strategy for assigned AstraZeneca-MedImmune drug projects and products throughout all stages of development and/or when on the market. You will be responsible for the continued safety assessment, evaluation and risk management of AZ products or product groups in various stages of clinical development and/or the post-marketing setting. Accountabilities:
As a Medical Director, Patient Safety Physician, you will be involved in all safety surveillance activities, including medical review of individual safety cases, signal detection, evaluation and SERM activities for all products in your area of responsibility. You will provide medical input to regulatory supporting documentation for labelling updates and contribute to the preparation of licensing agreements in your therapeutic area of responsibility. You will also participate in AZ internal meetings with project focus and external regulatory and non-regulatory meetings including those with consultants and other companies such as licensing partners.

Essential Skills/Experience:
- Medical degree (eg MD, MBBS)
- At least 2 years of clinical experience post-registration
- High level of medical competence
- At least 2 years of Drug Development/Patient Safety experience
- Leadership skills
- Drug Development Experience and Application of Disease and TA knowledge
- Integrative thinking
- Excellence in pharmacovigilance
- Patient Benefit risk assessment

Desirable Skills/Experience:
- MSc/PhD in scientific discipline
- Able to work across TAs and Functions
- Experience of supervising Patient Safety colleagues
- A demonstrated ability to understand epidemiological data
