R&D China is a fast growing & innovation centered organization with key functions driving the R&D priorities and deliverables around Discovery and the portfolio that across multiple TA incl. Onco, BioPharm, Rare Disease and Cell Therapy. It has been announced as one of the five global strategy R&D center in FY2024. We require highly motivated and talented finance professionals to support this organization. The finance business partner will provide strategic financial support, challenge, guidance & financial leadership to the functional leadership teams, under the supervision and support by R&D China Finance Director.

As the finance Business Partner you will need to work in close partnership with the R&D China leadership team. You will support this team to manage & prioritize their annual function budgets and longer term forecast and ensuring the team are on track to deliver and meet benefit targets.

A key part of the role is to adapt to an ever-changing environment. Critical capabilities include:

  • Proactive problem solving – being able to push to conclusion new issues where there is no current agreed process or solution
  • Going beyond your role boundaries where there is a gap, including working with the leadership teams to continually develop and improve financial management and resource allocation by the departments.
  • You will own the financial planning cycle for R&D China and support in setting performance targets, aligned to strategy and operational plans. Create forecasts for the overall business unit leveraging sound understanding of the business model and financial drivers, track costs closely to highlight sensitivities and risks.

Responsibilities:

  • Having joint accountability with the business for the accuracy of forecasts and, using a good understanding of the business model and financial drivers, to challenge and influence the key cost drivers.
  • Lead month end closing and deliver monthly financial reports and analysis to Senior Management with the goal of providing actionable insights that can support business decision-making.
  • Preparation of finance part presentations for function cost related business and finance review meetings.
  • Investment & Benefits: Responsible for ensuring all cost & benefits reporting & forecasting is robust with strong financial control
  • Decision support: Responsible for partnering with all business unit teams to help prioritise investment in line with strategy & business cases, including management of the business unit budget.
  • Improvements: Supporting the leadership team with resource management & utilisation splits embedding agile ways of working & sustainable benefits tracking.

  • Resource allocation: Responsible for ensuring function resource allocation is aligned to priorities and appropriate trade-offs are considered and implemented
  • Process ownership: Ensuring business unit is integrated into all business planning function elements
  • Act as main contact for R&D China with cross function finance related request and liaison with related finance functions, i.e. statutory, tax, internal control and etc.

Requirements:

  • Ability to build relationships with good communication & interpersonal skills across levels
  • Persistence, determination and resilience
  • Deep analytical thinking. Experience developing business cases and use of decision support tools and mentoring others in their development and use Qualified finance professional with experience working as Finance Business Partner with exposure to senior management Proficiency in financial software (SAP) and Microsoft Excel, Power Point
  • Ability to adapt to constantly changing needs with an open and constructive mindset
  • Minimum Bachelor degree, MBA preferred. Relevant 5+ year of experience Effective communication, both written and verbal, with English fluency
  • Nice to have experience of working in a global pharmaceutical organisation/ understanding of the drug development life cycle and/or commercial aspects
