Job Description

This role is a key member of the Program Management Office (PMO) in Oncology R&D. The role is accountable for developing, applying, and maintaining change management standards and guidelines to be used in the successful implementation of change programs across the business. The role will also be accountable to develop and implement change management strategies for one or multiple ongoing initiatives within the organization. Works closely with the R&D Change Management Community team to ensure alignment of change activities across a portfolio of projects. Reports to the Change Management Lead.

Leads change projects on-time, on-budget and in adherence with quality and compliance standards. The role has responsibility for people (indirect and potentially direct in the future) and shaping change programme solutions. Acts as a liaison between the programme and business stakeholders to ensure business change requirements are effectively translated into solutions and benefits are understood. Will support change programme transitions to business-as-usual services. The role helps ensure project teams adopt change management standards, policies, and procedures.

Typical Accountabilities

SPECIFIC

  • Provide change management leadership and support for major change initiatives.

  • Be an expert in change management to lead the change strategy.

  • Accountable to develop and implement Change Management strategies, processes, and plans for large Transformational Programmes within R&D.

  • Provide training and mentoring in good Change Management practices to help educate the Programme team, build Capability, and raise awareness for programme stakeholders.

  • Develops change related tools and templates for use by project teams across multiple initiatives.

  • Ensure any changes that affect interdependent programmes are identified and managed, working closely with the Programme Leads.

  • Perform change impact assessments across a large project or programme in consultation with the business lead and programme lead to identify key risks and resistance to successful implementation as well as change overload.

  • Lead in liaising with different workstreams and programmes and getting support to ensure transparency of change impact on staff.

  • Support the functional heads to create end-user facing Programme change journeys that will support understanding the impact of the change within the business.

  • Create plans for assessing Business Readiness of the proposed Programme changes including, how to measure adoption and success of the changes.

  • Create plans for measuring adoption and success of change and ensure alignment of change impact with organizational KPIs and metrics.

  • Aid in setting strategic direction for the Change Management Function.

  • Participate in change management communities of practice to share standard methodologies and drive alignment across related programmes.

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive partner engagement plans to address challenges and ensure programme success.

  • Partner with project leaders and project managers on successful delivery of the initiatives.

  • Work closely with the senior stakeholders and functional leads to gain support for the overall programme change activities.

  • Work closely with the Communications Lead to align communications with the change impact activities.

  • Work closely with the Training Lead to align training to support the change impact and make it successful.

  • Implement and mature a cross-functional change network to support sustainable implementation and benefit realization.

GENERAL

  • Provide expertise in communication and relationship building skills with senior leaders and stakeholders to influence and achieve the outcomes.

  • Creates and executes change work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements to ensure deliverables are met effectively and efficiently.

  • Mobilises project resources for programme .

  • Manages large and complex projects, including the initiation and maintenance of supplier contracts as needed.

  • Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities as needed.

  • Manages relationships with key business stakeholders and ensures that business requirements are understood and the impact on people are understood by the business.

  • Builds and leads teams, communicating roles and responsibilities whilst encouraging teamwork and collaboration amongst the team and business stakeholders.

  • Applies highly developed specialist knowledge and skills in change management and related methodologies.

  • Reviews deliverables prepared by team.

  • Drives collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst project teams.

  • Develops risk and issue reports and drive related solutions.

  • Develops transition plans into business areas and ensure controlled hand-overs to users and business as usual processes.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Degree in business and/or scientific field

  • Experience in change management with a proven track record

  • Demonstrate strong communication and relationship building skills with experience collaborating and sharing knowledge among teams

  • Evidence of shaping and developing innovative solutions that have a major impact within a business area and organisation

  • Strong networking/consulting skills

  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language

  • Proven track record in delivering high risk programme/projects

  • Excellent business engagement and business acumen with sensitivity to political/economic environment

  • Experience working within a quality and compliance environment and application of policies, procedures and guidelines

  • Experience building change management strategy, framework and trainings

  • Ability to convince and lead negotiations across a complex group

Desirable

  • Experience working in a global organisation with complex/geographical context

  • Experience managing and controlling a budget

  • Formal qualifications in change management, project management, and/or process improvement methodologies

  • Pharmaceutical R&D experience
