Introduction to role
You will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and optimization of solutions within the Commercial Organization, driving strategic and operational excellence. This role holds accountability for service delivery with quality and agility and requires considerable hands-on technical expertise and proactive leadership in solution management. The Solution Owner will support and design end-to-end solutions that enable data-driven decisions based on rigorous analysis and the best available information. A high level of proficiency in solution architecture, system integration, and project management is required. This role works closely with Marketing, Medical, Market Access, Sales, Forecasting, and other Commercial Operations business partners. In addition to strong technical skills, the Solution Owner should have excellent communication skills with a demonstrated track record of effective business partnership, as evidenced by material business impact and influencing capabilities. The candidate will also be required to continuously evaluate new technologies and methodologies to enhance solution delivery.
Accountabilities
- Develop a deep understanding of internal customers' technological and solution needs, focusing on delivering integrated and innovative solutions.
- Champion the use of advanced technologies and methodologies in strategic and resourcing decisions across the business.
- Identify and prioritize enhancements and new capabilities, leading the development, deployment, and embedding of such capabilities across the organization.
- Instill a culture of continuous improvement, testing, and deployment of new capabilities for the business.
- Access appropriate information via a variety of tools and sources, ensuring optimal solution integration.
- Summarize and present findings through various communication channels.
- Apply deeper technical skills and knowledge shared across the functional area (e.g., deep knowledge of key technologies, system integration, etc.).
- Demonstrate a high level of understanding of the points of integration of our work and that of our colleagues.
- Monitor the external environment to stay up to date on leading technological capabilities, both within and outside of pharma, which can be applied within the organization.
- Coordinate and mentor cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of solutions across different brands and therapeutic areas.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective technological solutions.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all solutions, ensuring transparency and ease of knowledge transfer.
- Conduct regular training sessions for team members to keep them updated on the latest technologies and methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards in all solution implementations.
- Collaborate with data governance teams to ensure data integrity, security, and privacy.
- Utilize predictive analytics and machine learning models to provide actionable insights for business decisions.
- Drive the adoption of cloud-based solutions to enhance scalability and flexibility of analytics capabilities.
- Ensure business outcomes and objectives are accomplished within approved time frames, scope, and budget.
- Lead and liaise with global and local teams, functions, and service partners on cross-functional initiatives.
- Collaborate with all business partners to ensure that they are managing the processes in alignment with their project objectives and priorities.
- Considerable experience and success in driving innovation, process improvement, and technology delivery for a Pharma company in the areas of Commercial Data Analytics.
- Foster strong project governance and execution assurance processes, integrating plans at a project level, refining as needed, and running outcomes in line with the business objectives.
- Handle the delivery of projects with multiple partners and technical, business, and data components.
- Facilitate and/or manage the gathering of business requirements enterprise-wide from BUs and Functions and develop detailed project plans and artifacts.
- Run project-level communications, including status reports, and provide senior leadership team with timely updates on operational issues.
- Establish processes to identify project issues and risks, resolve complex project issues, and raise viable solutions as required.
- Ensure contingency plans are identified and implemented.
- Build metrics and manage with a higher level of information.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field from an accredited college or university.
- 7+ years’ work experience in Reporting/Analytics teams, involved in data modelling and data warehousing, solution architecture, system integration, or project management or advanced analytics services, preferably within the Life Sciences Industry.
- Certified professional in Analytics, Forecasting and AI/ML domain, solution expertise, generating insights, preferably in pharma/healthcare.
- Should be able to identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal/written skills, along with analytical and proactive mindset to problem-solve.
- Strong understanding of data science methodologies, machine learning algorithms, and statistical modeling.
- Experience in designing and implementing data architectures and pipelines.
- Proven track record in delivering successful data-driven projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Experience with leading technological platforms and datasets (like IQVIA), manipulating and extracting insights from large longitudinal data sources, such as Claims, EMR and other patient level data sets.
- Proficiency with tools and technologies such as Python, R, MS Office, SQL, PySpark, and big data platforms like Hadoop/Spark or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data management tools.
- Experience in designing/overseeing the development of robust data architectures, pipelines, and infrastructure, along with data governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with business leaders to understand their strategic goals and translate them into actionable data-driven initiatives.
- Good experience in application of advanced methods and statistical procedures on large and disparate datasets, specifically: Statistical Analysis & Modelling, Time Series, Regression, Applied Econometrics and Bayesian methods, Data Mining, Predictive Modelling & Machine Learning algorithm, Optimization & Simulation.
- Basic to intermediate level knowledge in data visualization tools like MicroStrategy/Power BI/Qlik or any others BI technologies. Also, to oversee the creation of data visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights effectively.
- Should be able to connect the dots with a broader view to align projects and different POCs/ideas.
- Strong mentorship and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a significant number of business leaders and cross-functional business partners.
- Strategic and critical thinking with the ability to engage, build and maintain credibility with Commercial Leadership Team.
- Organization and time management skills.
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Experience of working with multiple 3rd party providers, including information technology partners.
- An advanced degree is preferred (Master’s, MBA or PhD).
- Knowledge of AZ brand and science is a value add.
- Strong organizational skills and time management; ability to manage diverse range of simultaneous projects.
- Experience working in globally distributed team.
- Collaborate with data scientists to develop and evaluate machine learning models.
