As a Senior Data Platform Architect at Alexion, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing sophisticated data architecture solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the data platform meets the current and future needs of the organization, supporting a wide range of data-driven initiatives. Your expertise will guide the development of scalable, secure, and efficient data systems that enhance our capabilities in data analytics and business intelligence.

Accountabilities

• Architectural Design: Develop and maintain the architecture of Alexion's data platform, ensuring it aligns with the company’s strategic goals and industry best practices.

• Collaboration: Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into robust data solutions.

• Scalability and Performance: Ensure the data platform is scalable and performant, capable of handling large volumes of data efficiently.

• Security and Compliance: Design systems with a strong focus on data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations.

• Innovation and Optimization: Continuously seek to improve and optimize the data platform by incorporating new technologies and methodologies.

• Documentation and Standards: Develop and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices; maintain comprehensive documentation.

• Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Essential Skills/Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• At least 7 years of experience in data architecture or a related data field, with a proven track record in designing and implementing large-scale data solutions.

• Strong proficiency in data modeling, database design, data product design, security, and data warehousing.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Familiarity with big data and AI technologies.

• Understanding of ELT processes and tools.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey sophisticated technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to work cross-functionally in a team-oriented environment.
