Job Title: Senior Analyst – Operational Excellence

Introduction to role:

This role will be responsible for providing functional support to the Sr Director of Operational Excellence for Enterprise Capability Solutions (ECS). The scope includes improving the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of the ECS function. You will lead operational excellence initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and ensure alignment and integration across all levels and domains. This role also supports key processes for AZ-IT, such as tier processes, annual planning, IT strategy alignment, and identifying/deploying ongoing business agility opportunities. You will work closely with the Sr Director of Operational Excellence ECS and the ECS Leadership Team to ensure consistency, governance, and timely delivery of pan AZ IT initiatives and processes.

Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with the Sr Director of Operational Excellence, ECS, to deliver and embed our global AZ IT central initiatives, operating model, and ways of working.

  • Align ECS strategy and track key ECS strategic priorities and achievements.

  • Facilitate agreement of ECS performance objectives and key results and critical metrics and associated governance and tracking processes.

  • Use analytics to identify continuous improvement opportunities and undertake selective cross and in-industry benchmarking.

  • Ensure AZ IT portfolio governance, standards, and processes are understood and adopted across ECS.

  • Provide consolidated visibility of the ECS portfolio and identify optimization opportunities.

  • Support consistency of delivery approaches and methods within ECS and with overall AZ IT approaches/methods.

  • Track ECS portfolio delivery and governance for continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Support ECS Pulse survey reporting to leadership.

  • Support annual financial/budget planning.

  • Develop and deploy ECS communications and collaborator engagement.

  • Manage and optimize the program/project management capability pool across ECS.

  • Ensure transformational consistency/delivery across operations.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required, MBA or advanced degree is preferred in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field

  • 3+ years’ experience in business and performance management ideally in a mixed in/outsourced IT environment/consulting

  • 2+ years’ experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment preferred

  • 2+ years’ experience leading cross-functional teams and building consensus

  • Experience with insights generation and demonstrated understanding of new and emerging business intelligence tools

  • Understanding of portfolio management concepts

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and multiple leadership layers to develop critical business outcomes

  • Effective analytical skills to find opportunities for performance improvement and enhanced business/ways of working agility – including within portfolio and performance working

  • Knowledge of transformation delivery approaches and methods, including Agile and waterfall and the relative pros and cons when using those and other methods

  • Strong understanding of setting goals and metrics to improve business performance and using benchmarking for improved outcomese target setting

  • Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Good understanding of budgeting and finance concepts and processes

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Six Sigma certification

  • Knowledge of industry qualifications and standards

  • Performance management approaches and application
