Process Engineer II

The Opportunity:
Avantor is looking for a Process Engineer II who will be responsible for all phases of medium-scale assigned process improvement projects, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost.
This role will be a full-time position based out of our Carpinteria, CA office. You will have the opportunity to implement process improvements to meet quality standards, perform feasibility studies and solve problems!
What we’re looking for:
- Education: Bachelor's or MSc degree in chemical engineering, materials engineering and science, mechanical engineering or chemistry
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience preferably in a silicone manufacturing environment, in an engineering capacity involving chemical process engineering, process design, transfer design input for manufacturability and capital funds request preparation with strong data science and analysis experience.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Polymer science background.
- Engineering experience in a GMP manufacturing environment.
- MS Office, VBA, SAP, PowerBI, Minitab or JMP working knowledge
- Statistical knowledge, Lean six sigma, Kaizen & project management experience.
- Excellent communication, cross functional and problem-solving skills, be detail oriented, and flexible to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
How you will thrive and create an impact:
- Provides technical process ownership to core manufacturing processes, leads cross functional teams to further improve or develop process methods, equipment, and support infrastructure to optimize production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and quality performance.
- Monitor and analyze production data, use computer programming tools to mine and utilize this data
- Lead RCA process to identify root cause and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and utilize key reliability metrics. Provide long-range planning for the facility and equipment needs.
- Improve and develop manufacturing processes and assess the adequacy of equipment to meet market/manufacturing demands.
- Prepares qualification reports, flow diagrams, and charts on research data and information.
- Identifies new equipment and technologies to support continuous improvement and capacity expansion of core capabilities.
- Design, validate and commission new production equipment and tooling, monitor modifications and upgrades, and troubleshoot existing processes.
- Develops project budgets associated with procurement of new equipment and technologies.
- Ensures planned engineering (process) progress with respect to the engineering deliverables.
- Interacts with customers, team members and vendors to develop process and equipment specifications.
- Implements and maintains engineering records consistent with cGMP and ISO regulations
- Develops plans for the installation, movement, repair of building equipment and utilities, and owns asset identification system for manufacturing equipment.
- Develop, implement and sustain reliability best practices.
- Optimize preventative and predictive maintenance programs, including Safety, Environmental, and Quality critical process control.
- Analyze downtime to identify chronic/sporadic failures and lead reliability improvement efforts.

Pay Transparency:
The expected pre-tax pay for this position is
$82,000.00 - $137,000.00Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
