Avantor is on the lookout for a motivated and temporary Operational Lab Coordinator to join the team in Braine-l’Alleud. In this diverse position, you will manage a small team on the one hand and provide operational support on the other. This is a full-time, temporary position based on the site of our customer, UCB Pharma, in Braine-l’Alleud. You get a replacement contract, together with an attractive salary and multiple benefits including meal vouchers, 13th month, additional annual bonus, pension scheme, health insurance and more. You get the opportunity to establish (a first) experience in a people management position in an international environment.
Working hours: Monday – Friday, flexible start time between 07:30 and 09:00 and finish time as of 16:00
The team
You‘ll lead a team of six to seven associates reporting directly into you. You are their first point of contact, and directly report into the team Supervisor. Together with your team and colleagues, you belong to our department Lab and Production Services, a division of Avantor supporting leading pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.
What we’re looking for
Education: High school degree, preferably related to sciences
Experience:
- In the pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industry is a strong asset
- In a people management position, which can also be as a back-up
- In coordinating activities
Preferred qualifications:
- Strong skills in MS Office and general affinity with computer programs
- Effective and fluent communication skills in both English and French
- Able to deal with conflicts, to motivate others, and to lead by example
- A real teamplayer, hands-on, and highly organized
- Responsible, service minded and pro-active
How you will thrive and create an impact
Team coordination (approximately 30%):
- Follow-up on team performance with the support of the supervisor by organizing regular one-to-one meetings with team members
- Manage trainings and training schedules
- Participate in meetings with the customer
- Manage work schedules to make sure activities are being handled efficiently, considering available resources
Operational support (approximately 70%):
- Coordinate lab activities
- Provide general lab support such as glassware management, decontamination of lab equipment, stock management, etc.
- Mange lab waste (biological and chemical)
- Clean and sterilize (analytical) lab equipment
- Assemble and calibrate lab equipment
- Dispatch micro-pipets for calibration
- Prepare buffers and other solutions
- Label samples
