Position Summary:

The Cell and Gene Therapy Solutions Scientist will be part of a dynamic team responsible for the design and development of novel products and applications used in regenerative medicine workflows. These products include tools for expansion, differentiation, and characterization of stem cell derived models. Experience culturing stem cells (e.g. iPSC, ESC, MSC or adult stem cells) is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in pluripotent stem cell culture, 3D cell culture (e.g. spheroids or organoids), matrices, and/or biomaterials (e.g. hydrogels). Desirable skills and techniques include 2D and 3D cell culture and bioassays, immunostaining, flow cytometry analysis, and data analytics such as machine learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and perform experiments, analyze data and draw valid conclusions for development and release of new products or workflows aimed at the stem cell and regenerative medicine field
  • Communicate experiment and project progress effectively in written and verbal formats including presentations and official product documentation
  • Maintain accurate experimental records and assist in the generation of protocols for Manufacturing and Quality Control SOPs for RUO and GMP products
  • Develop scientific content including conference presentations, publications, application notes and other Sales and Marketing efforts to support and promote Bio-Techne’s stem cell and regenerative medicine product offerings and services
  • Function as a subject matter expert and ensure scientific accuracy, validity, clarity and relevance of the content from early feasibility and product design stages to post-launch support.
  • Survey the literature to keep up with trends in the fields of stem cell and regenerative medicine to identify opportunities for products or applications
  • Provide scientific expertise and training to other team members and cross-functionally
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Desired Qualification and Experience:

  • Master’s degree + 5 years of relevant experience, or Ph.D. in Biology, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Hands on laboratory experience with pluripotent or adult stem cells required. Fluorescent based microscopy and standard cell characterization assays (e.g. RT-PCR, flow cytometry, ELISA, or ICC) required
  • Differentiation experience including 3D models such as organoids highly preferred. Experience with biomaterials and gene editing a plus
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both oral and written
  • Flexible and work independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Highly organized and detail oriented to successfully manage concurrent projects
  • Self-motivated, action and results driven
