Pay Range:

$105,500.00 - $173,450.00

POSITION SUMMARY:

In this Individual Contributor role you are responsible for profitable achievement of the Simple Western Leo sales objectives for Bio-Techne Western and Cellular Analysis Business Unit. The WCA Business Development Manager (WCABDM) will develop and execute strategic plans for the Simple Western Leo portfolio to increase sales and grow market share in the territory. This role is field-based and will include travel throughout the defined territory (North America). Teamwork is critical and this role must partner effectively within the Western and Cellular Analysis Business Unit/Sales Team and across other areas of the organization including, but not limited to, marketing, product management, customer service, leadership and operations for maximum revenue generation, and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate core competencies in sales execution, sales process, forecasting, contract negotiation, relevant segment account management (academic, pharma, biotech, government) with a proven history of effective deployment of sales resources, consistent budget delivery and continuous sales process improvement.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible to receive a commission plan and long-term incentive package of stock grants based on individual and company performance, in accordance with company policy.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for expanding Simple Western Leo systems for the Western and Cellular Analysis Business Unit by fostering and maintaining the development of key customers in partnership with local Western and Cellular Analysis Specialist (WCA Specialist) specifically focused as appropriate on Strategic Accounts (defined as large, high volume or multi-site).
• Specific focus for targeted growth on customers in Key Segments/Application areas; including but not limited to those in the early phases of Analytical Development and/or Process Development with the goal to move our assays into QC and Manufacturing, etc.
• Responsible for providing accurate and timely product forecasts to WCA Director at a regular cadence and as requested/needed.
• Expected to regularly deliver on (meet or exceed) forecast commitments.
• Champion account management pro-actively by extensive use of CRM (SalesForce).
• Assist with, strategize and advise on quotations, standing orders, bulk orders, etc.
• Be the one voice from the WCA sales team to work with fulfillment on special customer requests, challenging orders, shipment schedules for standing orders, etc for consumables.
• Proactively identify changes in relevant markets, and competitive pressures to develop and modify strategies and tactics accordingly.
• Provide VOC (Voice of Customer) to product management/marketing regularly.
• Participate in key account negotiations alongside enterprise business development teams.
• Establish effective relationships and collaborations with other departments (Marketing, Finance, Customer Service, etc.) to address key business issues and opportunities.
• Attend sales meetings, management meetings; attend conferences as appropriate.
• Utilize and follow team policies and procedures.
• Follow company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook and follow guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the AWAIR, Chemical Hygiene and Exposure Control manuals in accordance to the job.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

• Position requires a bachelor’s degree related to life sciences or equivalent experience in related field, minimum of 10 years of sales/customer facing experience along with knowledge of selling to customers within the academia, industry, government, and other related market segments. Ideal candidates will have sales experience in the Life Science tools space (High Value Capital Equipment Sales Experience)

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and CRM experience are required. Computer entry and/or typing skills are desirable. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Travel within the region is required.

• Commercial and scientific acumen with the ability to prepare, deliver and present relevant/compelling project proposals and reports.
• Strong negotiation skills with fact-based decision making and appropriate execution.
• Knowledge of relevant markets and customer segments.
• Ability to look for, identify, find, nurture and close new business opportunities.
• Ability to digest scientific journals, follow appropriate news channels and build an information network to stay current and at the forefront of innovation in the Western/ImmunoAssay space in order to connect with and have relevant high-level conversations with KOLs.
• Strong time management and organization skills including the ability to prioritize, re-prioritize and pivot as needed.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and perform at a high-level of accuracy.
• Ability to act independently on routine assignments or projects and complete them in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ability to communicate professionally, both oral and written.
• Ability to work independently, within a team and with other teams.
• Ability to work hours that conform to standard business operations.
• Intermediate to advanced MS Office and CRM systems (salesforce.com a plus) skills.
