POSITION SUMMARY:

Incumbent will be responsible for supporting in basic research and product development activities, performing molecular biology and biochemical techniques, and aid laboratory assistant for the R&D department to ensure that laboratory support activities are in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The R&D Intern for TissueTech will work on research and development projects to support functions including:

  • Participate in all phases of research including planning, preparation, calibration, application, evaluation, data analysis, maintenance, and when necessary, appropriate waste disposal.
  • Perform standardized tests and assays in support of R&D staff.
  • Maintain records of data and calculations pertaining to experimentation.
  • Communication of results, progress, and status of current projects both orally and through writing.
  • Assist in organization of laboratory.
  • Assist with processing and testing of amniotic tissue.
  • Aid in organization, calibration and testing of equipment utilized by the laboratory.
  • Assist in creation and modification of protocols, verifications, validations, and other regulatory/laboratory paperwork as needed.
  • Perform literary searches as requested and summarize findings.
  • Participate in crossfunctional activities (e.g., with Quality, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Marketing, etc.)

DEVELOPMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in running a designated project which includes the following function:

  • Document project progress in accordance to SOP.
  • Help in design of project protocol.
  • Read and understand regulatory and quality system requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION EXPERTISE/QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate must be pursuing a degree in Biomedical engineering, Biology, Chemistry or other related engineering or basic science field, be in good standing with the university, and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2. In addition, the preferred candidate should:

  • Have excellent soft skills (including effective communication and the ability to work as team player)
  • Be experienced on major software programs, (e.g. Microsoft Office)
  • Have experience in statistical software (e.g. SPSS, Minitab)
  • Have experience in biology/engineering lab techniques
  • Fluent (oral/written) in English
