Senior Director, Market Access Strategy & Operation

Position Summary

The Senior Director, Strategy and Operations is responsible for managing all aspects of market access operations, including 3PL processes, analytics, contracting and government pricing. The role also serves as a key strategic business partner for market access and commercial organization. This individual will build out and scale the market access operations team together with the commercial organization, depending on specific market needs. This employee will work closely with the VP, Market Access, and the US Commercial operations organization as well as interface with Finance, Patient Services, Marketing, Sales Insights and Analytics, Sales, and the global market access team. Reporting to the Vice President, Market Access, the Senior Director is an integral member of the Market Access and the US commercial team.

What you have to offer:

  • Lead the market access strategy and operations function. Hire and build the team to support the needs of the US business and foster a culture of accountability and integrity.
  • Key contributor in evaluating and building the go-to-market strategy for all assets. Responsible for communicating strategy and gaining alignment across all stakeholders in the US commercial and global organization.
  • Develop price governance structure that approves all commercial offers to customers, including guidelines and rebate corridors.
  • Lead the government pricing operation. Oversee government price reporting to ensure timely calculation and reporting of Best Price, 340B, ASP, FCP and associated price points along with any price reporting to Compendia and state agencies.
  • Lead the US forecasting process from a market access perspective in close collaboration with sales leadership, insights and analytics, and finance. Provide timely gross-to-net estimates based on market access strategy, market events, and customer insights.
  • Establish the analytics framework needed to facilitate go, no-go contract decisions. Direct the Average Selling Price (ASP) forecast and management process and provide analytics support for the US business as needed.
  • Build contracting discipline. Oversee creation and management of all commercial agreements.
  • Evaluate data gaps and provide input into sources of data needed to address.
  • Coordinate and manage market research projects to capture market intelligence ahead of launch.
  • Manage market access budget process to ensure projects stay within assigned budget.
  • Ensure overall compliance with internal controls and support Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and support internal and external audits.
  • Partner with the broader US commercial organization to drive operational excellence across the US and global teams; and
  • Other ad hoc reporting and projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry and minimum of 10 years focused on Market Access.
  • Extensive knowledge of government pricing, analytics, and commercial contracts and the interplay and impact commercial agreements have on government prices and commercial success.
  • Proven track record of successful product launches across multiple disease states, with expertise in coordinating activities across various stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of Buy and Bill and Pharmacy Benefit Models, including experience navigating complex reimbursement landscapes.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and influence key stakeholders at all levels. Ability to rapidly assimilate information and to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong team player with a collaborative mindset and ability to build cross-functional relationships.
  • Self-motivated, flexible and able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced and evolving environment.
