We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Director Opex to join our team for individualized cancer vaccines. The position is responsible for aligning all process optimization and process design activities within the objectives. Support all value stream teams to deliver upon target fulfilment, ensure capacity to fulfill market demand and GXP conformity with lean, robust and capable processes.
Continuous analysis and optimization of existing processes and systems in all operational and administrative areas by applying principles and methods of Lean and Six Sigma, working closely with relevant departments to effectively implement improvements and achieve measurable results.
Support the design of new processes within the individualized vaccine area by collaborating with all relevant departments and supporting the process development functions with the expertise of lean mindset and methodology to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
Develop and deliver training programs to enable the organization to set up efficient and effective processes, tailoring programs to the specific needs of different departments and teams, and providing ongoing support and coaching to ensure sustainable Lean processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of innovative strategies and structures to support growth and expansion of our local BNT sites for manufacturing individualized mRNA vaccines. Delivering business needs in a complex environment.
  • Lead Opex and Project Management team to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across BioNTech to ensure successful execution and alignment of all initiatives ongoing, (processes, systems, cultural programs).
  • Serves as role model for leadership and Lean mindset. Leads the Lean/PM team, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management as well as training of the organization within operations.
  • Manage project portfolio across individualized mRNA manufacturing, incl. reporting to senior management. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with global and local initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Over 10 years of professional experience in project management, with a strong focus on Lean, Six Sigma, and agile methodologies across all relevant organizational processes, including Operations, Administration, and R&D
  • Minimum 5 years extensive leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams in both Operations and Administration environments, with a proven track record in disciplinary management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Hands-on mentality with ownership of tasks, seeing them through to completion
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry for individualized medicine is preferred
