The Position

As a (Senior) System Engineer within Biological Sample Production and Management team under the organization of IT Research, Development and Medicine, you will be part of a global team with colleagues in US, Austria, and Switzerland. Your focus is on developing and consulting of systems for Research and Development, business process improvement, demand management, system implementation, data integration and data visualization for all biological entities and data in R&D for human pharma and animal health.

We are looking for a candidate with expertise in software development and customer service to manage the collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, with a special focus on internal scientists and technicians. You will apply your experience and knowledge of system engineering for pharmaceutical and biopharma processes and foster communication regarding R&D activities. This position is part time eligible with 80%.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • In your new role, you will frequently consult with scientists and technicians, analyzing the user requirements, managing the demands, and developing the solutions in research activities in biological discovery area
  • Being a member of IT product team, you will manage high complex global initiatives independently or collaboratively, coordinate efforts internally and externally, and deliver results/solutions to business
  • Furthermore, you will be responsible for designing solutions/systems/database/interfaces and programming/implementing systems/applications for R&D
  • With your knowledge about systems and processes, you will actively drive and influence on innovation and R&D efficiency improvement
  • You will effectively manage external partners and vendors, including negotiations, contracting, trouble shooting and escalation
  • In addition, you will comply all identified procedures, e.g., Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, validation protocols, configuration management, incident management, demand management


Additional Tasks & Responsibilities For The Senior Role

  • You will lead IT project or IT Product team
  • Furthermore, you will take business initiative and lead developer team to implement solutions and deliverables
  • You will assist IT solution architecture design and roadmap planning.


Requirements

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, (Business) Information Technology, Natural Sciences or equivalent with several years of professional experience
  • Experience with a general-purpose programming languages or technologies such as Python, Java, SQL, relational database (e. g. Oracle, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server,) and data modeling or data mapping as well basic understanding of data science
  • Track record of accomplishment in implementing technologies and realizing business benefit
  • Demonstrated agile methodology, project management, CPI or scrum as well as understanding of drug discovery science and technology is a plus
  • Proven skills in effective and timely decision-making, and conflict resolution/intervention
  • Committed team player as well as independent consultant with a diversified workforce and multicultural environment
  • Excellent communication skills in English and German


Additional Requirements For The Senior Role

  • Several years of programming experience skills for above mentioned programming languages or technologies
  • Several years of working experiences in pharmaceutical or biotech or related industries in the IT or computational capacity
