As a key player in our innovative projects, you will be instrumental in developing new and improved vaccines against viral pathogens. As Analytical Technician you will support the vaccine development by implementation of new, innovative assays and techniques. Next to that your role includes organizing and executing Quality Control testing for GMP areas, raw materials, intermediate, and end products, ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficacy.
The analytical group will be generating projects to support an evolving future market. Prior to reaching said market, the projects generated will provide future work for virologists, biologists, clinicians, and other researchers and staff within Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health. With the guidance of your supervisor, you will have the chance to make a significant impact on animal health and welfare, while advancing your career in a supportive and collaborative environment.
This position is based in Lelystad and reports directly to the VPH Analytical Development Leader Development.

Responsibilities
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Conducts analytical studies in his/her areas of expertise, including:
- Immunology: Virus neutralization, Western blot, ELISA
- Virology: Tissue culture, viral propagation, and titration
- Biochemistry: SDS-PAGE
- Participates in the analysis and interpretation of results, and contributes to intra-lab presentations.
- Participates in the identification of irregularities in test runs and, in consultation with his/her management, implements corrective actions.
- Responsible for inventory control of critical equipment and reagents. Maintains, qualifies, and validates equipment in collaboration with the TS manager if required.
- Surveys the technical literature in his/her field of expertise.
- Ensures compliance with all required procedures in terms of quality (QA) and intellectual property (traceability and confidentiality).
- Tests and collects samples from raw materials, intermediates, and products under GMP conditions. Records test results as required and maintains all documentation related to the GMP state.
- Writes and updates Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE TEAM - Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in virology, (molecular) biology, microbiology, immunology, or a comparable educational level.
- Experience: 2-5 years of experience in an R&D laboratory, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry, with knowledge of GMP.

- Virology (tissue culture, viral propagation, and titration), biochemistry (SDS-PAGE), and immunology (e.g., ELISA, virus neutralization, immunoblotting).
- GMP Expertise: Experience working under GMP with a solid understanding of Quality Control and Quality Systems.
- Software Proficiency: Good knowledge of standard software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
