Job Summary:
The Sr. Dir Business Insights & Analytics is responsible for market research, competitive intelligence, , insight generation, advanced analytics, and forecasting for the Cytokinetics Commercial organization. This position will support strategy development for enterprise-critical initiatives, as well as assessing opportunities that are complex, including ongoing company initiatives or new strategies and capabilities. This leader is responsible for supporting the long-term strategy of the organization.
The successful candidate will lead a team that drives business transformation through proactive thought-leadership, innovative analytical capabilities, and their ability to communicate complex and dynamic information in new and creative ways. The Senior Director ensures the Commercial Insights and Analytics team focuses on critical business questions, drives towards strategic and synthesized insights, and suggests ideas and recommendations that enable better decision-making for the business.
In partnership with Executive-Level Leaders across the enterprise, this role will utilize advanced analytics to inform critical decisions for R&D, Business Development, New Product Planning, and the Commercial organizations. The ideal candidate for this role is a strategic, forward-thinking, analytics professional with a passion for fostering change and driving long-term sustained growth for the company. They are skilled at crafting business cases and engaging effectively with CEO and ET level stakeholders and possess a deep understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive robust delivery related to: Primary and Secondary Market Research, Forecasting, Competitive Intelligence, Business Intelligence, and Advanced Analytics.
- Lead and drive a thought partnership with brand teams, global, and cross-functional partners to understand and address key business questions.
- Strategically prioritize and drive forward insights and analytics priorities considering business need, resourcing, and expected impact.
- In partnership with Brand Marketing, Sales Leadership, Finance, Patient Support, Market Access and other stakeholders, this role provides leadership in developing and executing the commercial strategy and plan by providing meaningful market and brand insights that enable effective data driven decision-making.
- Translates the business needs into actionable analytic-focused initiatives to provide solutions and/or recommendations to enable business excellence.
- Provide analytical insights through data analytics and market research to the Commercial teams to understand the business and identify potential opportunities for future growth.
- Lead sales forecasting and planning processes used within the Commercial organization and provide assessments of all business development opportunities to determine viability.
- Liaison between the U.S. Commercial organization and supply chain team to plan on optimal production and stocking of commercial product.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape, market environment and product development to provide data-driven recommendations and consultation to Executive/Senior level leaders.
- Responsible for financial management of the function, including budgets, resources and ensuring productivity against impact is delivered.
Education and Qualifications:
- B.S. degree, advanced degree preferred.
- Experience launching products in biopharma industry (preferred).
- Rare disease experience (preferred).
- Strong command of analytical and market research techniques and experience with selection and management of vendors.
- Experience building and maintaining complex market assessments and forecast models.
- Ability to create and communicate a clear vision among direct reports, effectively aligning resources and motivating teams to achieve goals.
- Expertise with pharmaceutical data sources (syndicated sources); strong understanding of Patient/Claims data (APLD) preferred.
- A proven record of leading and delivering strategic initiatives for commercial executive leadership teams with tangible results using advanced analytics expertise.
- High business acumen with demonstrated ability to distill complex problems, create structured framing, assessments, and actionable recommendations in collaboration with cross-function/division colleagues.
- This role will be primarily based in either the Radnor, PA or South San Francisco, CA office; there will be travel required (estimated at 20+% of time), by air or car, to participate in internal or external meetings.
