The Enterprise Data & Analytics (ED&A) team at Dana-Farber is seeking a Senior Clinical Operations Analyst to spearhead high-impact analytics initiatives to inform strategic decision makers across the Institute. The Senior Analyst will be tasked with empowering stakeholders and addressing various clinical, operational and business inquiries through the generation of powerful tools and analytics. The Senior Analyst will have the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, with a particular focus on supporting strategy-focused teams such as Business Initiatives and Alliances, Planning and Consulting, and Inpatient & Ancillary Services. Additionally, the Senior Analyst will have opportunities to meaningfully contribute to the planning of Dana-Farber’s future adult inpatient hospital.
The Enterprise Data & Analytics (ED&A) team is a subdivision of the DFCI Informatics and Analytics department led by the Chief Health Information Officer. Given access to an extraordinary range of healthcare data (including medical and pharmacy claims, enrollment, EMR, scheduling, billing, referral and laboratory results), the ED&A team is relied upon to drive the transformation of data into valuable and actionable insights. The team supports areas such as quality, operations and most importantly, patient care.
The Senior Clinical Operations Analyst will work with a variety of tools (e.g. SQL, Excel, Tableau, etc.) to dive into the data, build interactive tools, and own the sources of truth necessary to meet the needs of the Institute.
This role is hybrid with the expectation of being on site 1-2 days per week.

- Own various analytics projects from creation to completion using the ED&A Operating model; provide quantitative and qualitative analytic support to various operational departments including medical oncology, scheduling, nursing, network operations, and more.
- Collaborate with ED&A team members and Dana-Farber stakeholders to prioritize and generate interactive dashboards that serve as sources of truth relating to business & patient care metrics; allow users to drill down to the data that matters most to them.
- Serve as the primary steward of stakeholder needs, translating high-level business, clinical, and operational questions into specific requirements that can be answered using DFCI’s data assets.
- Prepare and present summaries of data for executive stakeholders looking to address DFCI’s most pressing and impactful needs.
- Provide conceptual and technical support to end users, both through group trainings as well as one-on-one support.
- Maintain open communication with ED&A Leads to address project barriers and escalate situations which may hinder achievement of deadlines and/or accomplishments of responsibilities.
- Build and foster an Institute-wide analytic community of practice by training and bringing together analysts, stewards, and analytics consumers.
- Communicate and effectively manage relationships amongst a variety of stakeholders from different professional backgrounds.
- Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed.

- Bachelor’s degree in relevant domain required. Master’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of related work experience in a data analytics role within the healthcare industry required.
- Fluency in SQL syntax and comfort manipulating and executing SQL queries required.
- Experience designing, editing, and sharing business intelligence using Tableau required.
- A strong desire to explore, investigate, and uncover patterns in data while maintaining focus on pragmatic solutions.
- Ability to function independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills and a history of effectively working and communicating with all levels of internal and external technical and non-technical staff.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Technical Skills:
- Fluency in SQL syntax and comfort manipulating and executing SQL queries required.
- Expert in business intelligence tools, specifically Tableau, required.
- Advanced proficiency in Tableau Desktop to perform dashboard design, development, and production, and to develop process documentation to enable users to self-serve reporting, analytics, and visualization.
- Can quickly and effectively diagnose and respond to support requests regarding data integrity, functionality, or other issues in existing and developing dashboards.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio).
- Comfortable learning new software tools.
Qualitative Skills:
- Must be able to remain open-minded about data exploration, vet work independently, and ensure accuracy of all analytic products before delivering end-results.
- Ability to elicit and document business requirements from stakeholders, and to utilize requirements to design and develop analytics solutions.
