Summary

Job Summary

This Professional Research Assistant position requires specialized and prior research experience that best fits the need of an NIH grant-funded research project. This involves familiarity with diagnostic and symptom severity interviews used in bipolar and mood disordered research, experience with psychophysiology (i.e., MindWare) equipment and data analysis software, recruitment for specialized mood disordered populations, and MRI safety training and protocol administration.

Responsibilities

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Assist with preparing laboratory studies, including ordering and setting up equipment.
  • Assist in the hiring, training and oversight of undergraduate student aides.
  • Recruit (fliers, website, telephone, newspaper ads emails, screen, and schedule study participants.
  • Assist with experimental design (e.g. create questionnaires; create stimuli presentation using Qualtrics, Medialab, and other similar experimental software).
  • Set up, operate, and maintain research equipment for use in the experiments.
  • Collect data with clinical populations, including administering surveys (e.g., using Surveymonkey), overseeing implementation structured DSM-W-TR clinical interviews, computer administered tasks (e.g., using EPrime and MediaLab), and psychophysiological hook-up and data analysis (e.g., using Mind Ware and/or BIOPAC equipment).
  • Score/code and enter data on the computer. Oversee data management (cleaning and analysis). (using Excel, SPSS).
  • Assist in creating, managing, and maintaining multiple databases (e.g., participant tracking, data, follow-up using Access and/or FileMaker).
  • Maintain project-related documents and materials, including IRB protocols and budgets. May assist in writing first drafts IRB amendments, progress reports to IRB and funding agency.
  • Will assist with ongoing collaborative studies with Dr. Gowin at CU Anschutz.

The salary range for this full-time position is $40,000.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree

What We Would Like You To Have

  • At least half to 1 year of related work experience in a clinical science research laboratory studying bipolar and mood disordered populations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience conducting research.
  • Familiarity with MindWare equipment.
  • Experience using SPSS and Excel software.
  • Prior clinical psychology research lab experience and a B.A. in Psychology or a Master's degree in related field.
  • Prior experience interacting with and/or analyzing data from populations with severe mental illness.
  • Previous experience with running psychology experiments (e.g. MediaLab, E-prime)
  • Ability to complete fMRI safety training protocols and administer protocols.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, research and organizational skills.
