Job Scope:

The Scientist I will be responsible for developing custom multiplex bead based assays for research and diagnostic customers and partners using Luminex's xMAP Technology. Performing scientific projects through design, execution, verification, and validation. Analyzing data, writing reports, and generating presentations for clients, the department, and management.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide technical leadership in design, execution and interpretation of scientific experiments required for custom assay development in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices. This duty will involve laboratory bench-work including working in Biosafety Level II laboratory with biological samples.
  • Effectively manage a project independently from beginning to end.
  • Design, develop, and validate assays on Luminex xMAP technology.
  • Communicate experimental outcomes and data analysis in the form of reports and presentations targeted at a variety of stakeholders
  • Support general lab maintenance and development initiatives
  • Deliver training for new and existing customers on assay design and development for Luminex xMAP Products
  • Supporting scientist-to-scientist collaboration to advance customers’ and partners’ success in applying Luminex’s xMAP technology to achieve market development objectives
  • Provide troubleshooting of issues to support customer success with Luminex xMAP Technology
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest scientific uses of Luminex xMAP technology including current, new, and future applications in order to fulfill the needs of Luminex customers
  • Deliver a customer experience that advances Luminex’s commercial objectives with current and prospective customers
  • Identify ways to improve the customer experience and provide feedback to Commercial Operations
  • Adhere to reporting requirements to support compliance, capacity management, and individual and team priorities
  • Executing reagent and assay troubleshooting and optimization based on the direction from the Director of Development & Applications.
  • Developing, updating, and implementing SOPs to support assay development procedures with LTG leadership team and R&D groups.
  • Providing scientific support to various functions within Luminex, including sales and sales management, marketing and marketing management, R&D, manufacturing, training and instructional development
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree degree in chemistry, biology, molecular biology or a related subject and at least 5 years relevant work experience and/or training. required and
  • Master's Degree in chemistry, biology, molecular biology or a related subject and at least 3 years relevant work experience and/or training. preferred or
  • Ph.D. in biology, molecular biology or a related subject and at least 0 years relevant work experience and/or training preferred

Experience

  • 1+ Years Demonstrated experience independently developing protein and nucleic acid multiplex assays using multiple assay format types preferred
  • 1+ Years Experience working independently in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities

Training and Skills

  • Enjoys working in a dynamic environment (High proficiency)
  • Strong understanding of both protein and nucleic acid xMAP assay chemistries (High proficiency)
  • Proficiency with Luminex instrumentation required (High proficiency)
  • RUO and IVD assay development experience (High proficiency)
  • Assay fit-for-purpose characterization and validation experience is an asset (High proficiency)
  • Ability to work mostly independently, but also in collaboration with various teams (High proficiency)
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), presentation, facilitation, research, problem solving, and organizational skills - with customers, peers and management, both in-person and on the phone (High proficiency)
  • Ability to be a self-starter and independent worker, allowing for continual learning and growth in order to successfully fulfill job requirements (High proficiency)
  • Excellent organizational & time-management skills, with focus on business goals (High proficiency)
  • Results-oriented and dedicated to providing high quality customer service (High proficiency)
