Company Description

Eurofins Scientific is the largest company in the world in the market of testing, inspection and certification. The Group provides analytical services to clients across multiple industries. Eurofins is active in, amongst others, the pharmaceutical, food, environment, agroscience, and clinical diagnostic testing markets.

The BioPharma Product Testing division is a worldwide network of GMP certified contract laboratories, providing analytical services to the (bio)tech and pharma industry. In Leiden (Netherlands), we currently operate two sites, with a total of about 230 employees. Construction of a large, state of the art, new site in the Leiden BioScience Park has just started. By the end of 2027, both labs in Leiden shall be moved to the building that is currently under construction.

Job Description

Managing the move of two laboratories to the new building. The design, construction and fit-out of the new building is managed by another project team. You are responsible for (overseeing) all other aspects, such as moving equipment, personnel and materials, licensing and certification of the new site, client audits, transfer of analytical methods, transfer of production processes, and contracts with suppliers.

The complexity of the project is high, with a large number of different workstreams, and many internal and external stakeholders. Whilst extensive knowledge and expertise on most operational topics is available inside various departments (such as QA, the labs, and engineering), there are also gaps which need to be identified and managed by you. The project has to be completed on time and within budget.

The project shall be completed by the end of 2027. Thereafter, this role will continue and will be further developed to meet the opportunities and demands of the organisation at that time.

Qualifications

  • At minimum MSc degree in life sciences, engineering or other relevant area;
  • Excellent understanding of (pharmaceutical) laboratories and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities;
  • Experience in managing large and complex projects in pharma or related markets;
  • Strong in stakeholder management;
  • Leadership experience;
  • Preferably experience in managing the entire process of moving a (pharmaceutical) laboratory to a new site;
  • Preferably experience with regulatory inspections;
  • Able to maintain focus on the big picture and the goal at all times;
  • Hands-on, hard worker, and focused on achieving results;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Fluent in English and preferably Dutch.
