Eurofins Environment Testing Australia is an Environmental testing network of fully accredited laboratories. With a staff of over 200 our laboratories are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and with Client Service Offices located in Adelaide, Darwin, Newcastle and Wollongong. We also operate field sampling services out of Melbourne and Sydney. We specialise in all areas of Environmental analysis, including Contaminated Soil, Sludge, Sediments, Leachate, Soil Vapour, Trade Waste Effluents, Sewage Effluents, Stack Emissions, Work Place Air, Ambient Air, Dust, Drinking Water, Surface Water run off, River & Stream Monitoring, Seawater, and Groundwater.

Job Description

  • Multiple full time permanent positions available based in Dandenong South, VIC for early 2025 commencement.
  • Morning (8am - 4pm), Afternoon (2pm - 10pm) and Night (8pm - 4am) shift available along with potential weekend shifts. *Cover letter must highlight shift preference and availability.
  • An extra 1.5% superannuation paid on top of standard national super rate.

Reporting to the Team Leader, the Laboratory Technician will primarily be responsible for sample preparation and analysis. Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:

  • Receiving and sorting water samples, assigning tests in accordance with the ELVIS database and preparing batch sheets on Microsoft Excel.
  • Extracting analytes from water / soil samples as directed by the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Combining water extractions, concentrating the solution and vialing in accordance with the SOP and vialing soil extractions (without concentration) in accordance with the SOP.
  • Ensuring traceability of samples prepared or vialed.
  • Performing quality control tests.
  • Prioritising samples accordingly as per turn around times (urgent samples)
  • Discarding waste in accordance with safety and environmental considerations.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will obtain the following:

  • A tertiary qualification in Science or equivalent would be highly regarded.
  • General preference and comfort in technical environments.
  • Desire to continually learn and improve.
  • Ability to be a hands-on hard worker and a 'doer'.
