Job Description
We are looking for a part-time, temporary Laboratory Support Intern who is available to work now for up to 8 weeks with the possibility of extension. The suggested hours are 20 hours per week between 11am - 3pm, Monday - Friday. Hours can be flexible.
The Laboratory Support Intern is responsible for receiving and opening sample packages from walk-in clients, FedEx, other mailing services and retrieving samples from drop box. Must ensure that all samples are logged in in a timely, efficient and accurate manner and perform the quality control of projects that are sent to the laboratory for analysis. Must effectively interact with clients and answer phone calls coming into the laboratory and forward them to the appropriate personnel as necessary. The personnel must maintain an open line of communication with Project Managers, Analysts and other management staff.
1. Receive and open packages
2. Login of all samples in a timely manner
3. Label all samples
4. QC of samples/projects prior to sending into the laboratory
5. Interact with clients and answer incoming phone calls
6. Report status information to clients
7. Contact clients for clarification of analysis requested
8. Forward specific project related information to the appropriate PM
9. Responsible for maintaining the necessary supplies for sample receiving
10. Other related duties
Qualifications
Education:
HS diploma or G.E.D. required,
Some college in geology or biology preferred.
Required Skills
1. Good Typewriting skills
2. Good communication skills
3. Must have the ability to multitask
4. Attention to detail Experience.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in Sample Receiving preferred
Additional Information
Compensation: $18.00 USD per hour
Position is 20 hours per week, for 8 weeks with the possibility of extension, with the suggested shift to be between Monday-Friday, 11:00AM - 3:00PM.
