Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team and assist in DNA sequencing using Oxford Nanopore Technologies. The ideal candidate will have a background in molecular biology and laboratory techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform DNA extraction, purification, and preparation for sequencing experiments.
- Operate and maintain Oxford Nanopore sequencers.
- Prepare sequencing libraries using Oxford Nanopore protocols, ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Troubleshoot and optimize sequencing runs for improved data quality and throughput.
- Analyze sequencing data for quality control, including base calling, alignment, and data visualization.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of sequencing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate across teams to provide technical support and ensure project timelines are met.
- Maintain accurate records of all laboratory activities, including experimental protocols, results, and quality control measures.
- Adhere to all safety, regulatory, and quality assurance standards in the lab.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in DNA sequencing technologies and methods.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Hands-on experience with DNA sequencing, preferably using Oxford Nanopore Technologies.
- Strong understanding of molecular biology techniques, including PCR and nucleic acid quantification.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools for sequence analysis and data quality control.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and best practices.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
