Who We Are

EvolveImmune Therapeutics is a next-generation, development-stage immune-oncology company which is developing novel trispecific T cell engagers with integrated CD2 costimulation to optimize anti-tumor immunity to overcome the therapeutic challenges of cancer cell resistance. Our lead program based on our EVOLVE therapeutic platform will enter the clinic in 2025. We conduct our R&D, including internal protein engineering and biotherapeutics discovery, immunobiology, and translational sciences, at our dedicated, state- of-the-art laboratories located in Branford, CT.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our Biotherapeutics group and contribute to a team effort to develop next-generation immunotherapies for effective cancer treatment. The core focus of this group is to engineering novel drug candidates utilizing our co-stimulatory EVOLVE platform and working collaboratively with other functions in research and development to advance candidate molecules through preclinical research.

A qualified candidate is a highly motivated and creative individual with substantial industry experience in protein biochemistry, protein/antibody expression and purification from mammalian cells using state of the art chromatography systems. A successful candidate will be responsible for protein and vector engineering, protein expression/purification and biophysical characterization. Additional responsibilities may include tissue culture and cell biology work as well as cell-based assays, flow cytometry, PCR/qPCR, and cell line engineering.

The successful candidate will be a clear communicator and an effective collaborator, will demonstrate professional verbal and written communication, be capable of presenting scientific results to multidisciplinary teams and will contribute to writing scientific publications.

We are looking for candidates who enjoy working in a team and can leverage the growth opportunities that a matrixed environment provides. This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who is excited about biologics drug discovery and development and is driven to translate our discoveries into novel therapeutics.

Responsibilities

  • Protein/antibody expression and purification from mammalian cells using affinity, size exclusion and IEX chromatography.
  • Engineering of monoclonal and bispecific antibodies and construction of expression vectors.
  • Support biophysical characterization of proteins and antibodies using state of the art technologies for binding kinetics (SPR/BLI) and for biophysical properties (DSC, CE, and other advanced molecular biology techniques).
  • Work in a team effort to establish biophysical and cell-based assays for antibody characterization and prioritization towards lead selection.
  • Collaborate and develop close scientific partnership with other functional areas across different teams.
  • Help build a culture that embraces scientific excellence and continuous learning to increase our team’s ability to deliver novel drug development opportunities through rapid incorporation of emerging biotechniques on the leading-edge of oncology drug discovery.
  • May mentor or train team junior members of the Biotherapeutics group.
  • This role is a full time, in-person position in EvolveImmune’s laboratories in Branford CT.

Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Cancer Biology or related discipline with at least 1-3 years industry experience; or MS in Molecular Biology/Cancer Biology/Biochemistry or related discipline with 5+ years of industry experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with protein expression in mammalian systems (HEK, CHO, transients and stable pools), and purification by various chromatographic methods using FPLC (affinity, IEX, SEC).
  • Experience with biochemical and biophysical characterization of biologics by ELISA, BLI/SPR, and SE-HPLC
  • Experience with mammalian tissue culture, cell line engineering, and cell-based assays is a plus.
  • Ability to learn new techniques quickly and follow established protocols with precision.
  • Perform tasks independently and interpret and communicate results accurately.
