Position Overview

Our growing team of Software Engineers is responsible for building one-of-a-kind innovative software solutions for processing, storing, analyzing, and interpreting terabytes of human DNA sequence data. To keep up with the ever-evolving needs in genetics, PreventionGenetics believes strongly in maintaining a modern technology stack and supporting staff in exploring and refining skills.

Software Engineers work closely with our large teams of doctorate geneticists and informaticians to solve novel problems to benefit patients and their families looking for answers.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Analyzes current needs of users and translates them into functional specifications for software systems, with reasonable consideration for anticipated future needs.
  • Designs, develops, implements, and maintains software systems, including but not limited to client-side and server-side applications, libraries and frameworks, services and data access.
  • Designs, develops, documents, and executes test plans, including unit tests, integration tests and functional tests.
  • Maintains system security by following documented procedures and best practices.
  • Creates and maintains necessary system documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • May perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
  • May take on additional duties and responsibilities based on job performance.
  • Stays current in software development techniques and technologies through professional reading, technical training, and conferences.
  • Experience with source code management tools such as TFS (preferred), VSS, Github,
  • Subversion, etc.
  • Experience with web services Web API for RESTful methods (preferred) or WCF.
  • Employees are expected to have basic knowledge of genomics data or learn on the job
  • within a year
  • Experience with SQL Server development (stored procedure, views, indexes etc.)
  • Experience with developing .NET applications using either ASP.NET (MVC preferred) or WPF
  •  Familiarity with laboratory information systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Visual acuity is required to perform essential job responsibilities.
  • Hearing acuity is required to receive warnings of laboratory danger and to hear telephones and security alarms.

  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications differ depending on the role. Minimum qualifications to be considered for one of these opportunities are:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 2 years of software development experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Next Generation Sequencing data analysis tools and workflows.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented languages, such as Python and/or C#.
  • Experience with data engineering and SQL

Salary Range:

$61,000.00 - $156,000.00

The annual base salary shown reflects the combined salary range for both titles. Placement within the annual base pay range will vary depending on experience and location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
