The Senior Shipping Associate Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a shipping team to ensure that all outbound shipments are processed efficiently and accurately. They provide leadership and direction to shipping associates, ensuring adherence to company policies, safety protocols, and shipping schedules. Their role includes coordinating with other departments (such as manufacturing, inventory, and customer service), managing workload distribution, training new staff, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining high productivity standards.

What You Will Do

  • Communicate with various departments regarding inventory, packaging, order questions to ensure on time delivery.
  • Work closely with Customer Service to verify customer shipping information, product questions, and other questions concerning shipments
  • Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to maintain optimal shipping schedules
  • Provide support and oversight to shipping associates while encouraging teamwork and problem solving
  • Foster positive relationships between shipping and cross functional departments
  • Research and resolve issues related to shipment delays, damaged goods, or other logistical concerns
  • Manage orders throughout the day utilizing SAP
  • Record necessary shipment information, product lot numbers, and other necessary information on domestic and foreign orders.
  • Investigate customer complaints or shipment problems
  • Navigate multiple shipping accounts to ensure invoices and billing is accurate
  • Maintain inventory list to ensure notification to appropriate departments to avoid backorders
  • Appropriately identify packaging needs (dry ice, ice packs, dry packaging) to ensure items arrive in good condition and appropriate temperature.
  • Verify, process and arrange pickups through various vendors (Fedex, UPS, DHL, etc)
  • Understand and navigate international shipping process
  • Keep finished product cold rooms, ELISA kits storage area, etc. organized, stocked and clean.
  • Process returned goods
  • Ensure current adherence to foreign and domestic shipping requirements

Who You Are & What You Bring

Educational and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse/manufacturing operations.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a shipping or warehouse setting.
  • Familiarity with shipping processes, inventory management, and warehouse safety protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with shipping and inventory software (e.g., WMS, ERP systems).
  • Experience coordinating with carriers and freight companies is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse/manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve logistical issues.
  • Proficient in using inventory management and shipping software.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy packages and work in a physically demanding environment.
