About the Job

The Associate Director, Product Management is responsible for developing the global strategic plans and customer requirements for FMI’s pipeline or portfolio products. This position is responsible for commercial success of a specific product(s) by understanding market trends and needs, proactively collecting voice of customer, and proposing improvements to maintain competitiveness on-market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and mobilize execution of the global product strategy through all phases of product development, from pipeline to on-market product management.
  • Lead the development of integrated product strategies for enterprise success over the short (90-day), medium (1-3years) and long-term (3-5years) time horizons, by collaborating closely across enterprise functions: Product, BioPharma, Clinical, Medical, and International. Engage R&D, Technology, Operations, and Program Management to ensure strategies are feasible and can be executed in line with the customer requirements.
  • Gather voice of customer and represent it across the organization. Embed this perspective into all product management and strategic activities.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of diagnostic market, competition, customer needs, and technology capabilities.
  • Assess the need and prioritize new product and product improvement opportunities.
  • Work with Finance, business units and Project Leaders to develop robust and consistent analyses and business cases to inform new product development, product and service improvements, and strategic recommendations.
  • Work with Project Leaders and Enterprise Business Leaders to inform budgeting.
  • Lead preparation and present new strategic proposals and product opportunities to senior leadership and the Portfolio Development Committee (PDC).
  • Ensure product will meet market and customer needs throughout product development process and proactively present product enhancements and innovations to meet evolving needs.
  • Represent FMI Product team with key customers through congresses, advisory boards, customer meetings, field rides, etc.
  • Partner closely with marketing teams to implement go-to-market strategies and tactical plans.
  • Translate competitive intelligence into meaningful insights and actions for FMI’s commercial teams.
  • Collaborate effectively across the Roche Group to maximize global success of FMI’s product portfolio.
  • Partner with marketing, commercial operations, and third-party partners to develop positioning, value propositions, and targeting for the portfolio.
  • Create relationships and strategic partnerships with key opinion leaders and other stakeholders to execute critical product & business initiatives.
  • Regularly connect with stakeholders to drive education, market adoption, and innovation of Foundation Medicine products.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
  • Other projects as periodically assigned.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years of experience in product strategy, product management, and/or product marketing in the diagnostic or pharmaceutical industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Business Administration, Master of Science, or other advanced degree
  • 12+ years of work experience in product marketing, preferably within medical device or diagnostics
  • Oncology experience, within medical device or diagnostics
  • International marketing or product strategy and/or product or diagnostic sales experience
  • Direct product launch experience including regulatory, access, marketing, and sales
  • Experience:
    • in healthcare with an emphasis on diagnostics, genomics, and/or biotechnology
    • gathering industry trends, generating deep customer insights and competitive intelligence to target the in-house laboratory testing market segment
    • creating impactful strategic plans and developing value propositions, positioning, and targeting
    • building relationships with cross-functional partners, and external business partners, and key customers
    • in next-generation sequencing technologies
    • building financial models representing complex market situations to facilitate data-driven decision making
  • Excellent leadership & communication skills, ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams within a complex global matrix environment.
  • Strategic thinking & strong problem solving, proactive solution co-creation with stakeholders
  • Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
