Job Description:
FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific, Inc. is hiring an Automation Engineer. The Automation Engineer will work with the customer to generate Director Methods that fulfill workflow requirements, operate collaboratively with internal teams to assist with the generation of acceptance criteria and associated documentation. Design, build, test, and deliver WAKO’s Automation systems to customers.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for understanding how to use new/existing third-party instrumentation, obtain API and STEP file documentation, and understanding what functionality customers expect from each instrument
- Understand how to install, teach, and run Precise Robotic Arms
- Create documentation for our software and train customers on its operation
- Utilize past research or automation experience to communicate with scientific customers and ensure manual experiments are appropriately transformed into fully automated systems
- Support automation project throughout the entire project lifecycle:
- Interpret needs of automation projects
- Identify requirements that require development/customization to the project
- Determine & mitigate risks to projects
- Assemble requirements from project work orders
- Implement the automation project
- Test automated systems during Pre-FAT, FAT and SAT at partner/customer sites
- Conduct Director software and driver testing/troubleshooting.
- Work with third-party vendors to obtain necessary integration information (API/STEP files/Manuals) to operate devices and build drivers
- Learn how third-party devices operate, and develop driver requirements to allow integration of devices with Director
- Regularly write technical documentation, including knowledge base articles, service notes, technical bulletins, and troubleshooting procedures
- Train partners and customers on using robotic arms, device drivers, and full-scale automated systems
- Use past benchtop science knowledge to properly translate customer’s manual processes into validated fully automated systems
Required Skills/Education:
- BS degree in Biomedical Engineering or appropriate industry experience as an automation engineer, plus a minimum of 5 years working as a bench scientist, research associate, or field service support
- Ability to debug networking issues and programming skills
- Experience using Git for version control
- Write technical documentation
- Customer Service Skills
- Analytical, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to speak and read English
- Good oral and written communication skills
Salary and Benefits:
- For California, the base salary range for this position is $87,035 - $113,300 per year. Compensation for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience, location, etc.).
