Genentech is seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Scientist in Computational Biology to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work in a highly interdisciplinary group at the intersection of Genentech’s Computational Sciences, Immunology Discovery & Regenerative Medicine and Translational Medicine Departments.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will be responsible for planning and analyzing large-scale multi-omic experiments for inflammatory diseases at both the bulk and single-cell levels. These experiments aim to generate novel insights, particularly in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). This will involve using data from both preclinical models and patient samples. The ultimate goal is to deepen our understanding of disease biology and progression, directly informing the discovery of novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers. Additionally, your work will address key project team questions related to both forward and reverse translation.
Design and analyze multi-omic experiments, with a primary focus on understanding IBD and COPD disease biology from preclinical models and patient samples.
Identify and integrate relevant dataset from various internal and external resources.
Understand and apply best-in-class algorithms to address biological and clinical questions.
Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team of quantitative, experimental, and clinical scientists.
Present complex results clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
Who you are
You have a Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field; or a Ph.D. in (Molecular) Biology or Immunology with in-depth experience in high-throughput data analysis evidenced by publications.
You have 0-3 years of post-PhD experience (industry or academia). A strong publication record is a plus.
You have experience with single-cell and multi-omic data analysis. Experience with spatial assays and/or clinical data is preferred but not required.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to varied audiences.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
Preferred
Strong Interest in inflammatory diseases; prior expertise in immunology, inflammation, or autoimmune diseases is a plus.
Proficiency in advanced analytical tools and algorithms, with extensive experience in R and/or Python for statistics and computational biology. Familiarity with UNIX, high-performance computing environments, and ML/AI approaches is a plus.

Relocation benefits are available for this posting
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $128,200 - 238,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
