How You’ll Add Value
The Sample Preparation Services (SPS) Manager is responsible for daily processing of fresh and frozen biological samples, associated QC and characterization activities under GLP-like conditions. This hands-on Manager will develop and qualify new methods, select and operationalize new equipment for automated sample processing, track and trend key performance and key quality indicators, organize participation in external quality assurance programs and promote a high-performance culture within the laboratory. The Manager is also responsible for making good judgment regarding the use of resources to meet customer project expectations, as well as ensure compliance with the appropriate regulatory and safety regulations.
What You’ll Do
Serve as a sample processing and liquid handling robot subject matter expert for internal and external customers. Assist in the development of new sample refinement, QC and characterization services. Create and qualify new methods. Create and manage automation protocols for lab processes. Develop and encourage the development of best practices resulting in standardized and streamlined processes and efficient use of resources. Develop and monitor leading indicators of performance and quality to make improvements or identify problems. Ensure the completion of routine equipment and facility maintenance. Manage the relationship with technical vendors and provide Procurement product purchasing guidance. Create, implement and oversee training programs for SPS Technicians to promote consistency in procedures and proper sample processing techniques. Provide training for Sample Prep Techs in technical procedures and SOPs Provide functional requirements for integration of laboratory methods and tasks with Limfinity. Independently follow through on assignments to provide assistance, guidance, problem solving, or feedback. Support client inquiry responses and issue resolution as needed for timely and accurate resolutions. Work with QA to ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety regulations. Maintain own training file and required documentation. Ensure all service failures are identified, investigated, and reported appropriately. Define client needs (RFPs, RFIs, textual and oral descriptions) into project design parameters/specifications. Provide assistance as required to assure global operations allows for a mirrored technical services offering in the BST Germany (and other) facilities.

What You Will Bring
• B.S. in a Life Science field with 5+ years experience or Master's degree with 3+ years experience or PhD with 1 + years experience
• Experience in general molecular biology techniques
• Experience in DNA and RNA extraction methodologies
• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to organize multiple activities on a daily basis
• Ability to analyze and make good judgment decisions
• Ability to work collaboratively and serve as a leader among colleagues
• Experience with lab automation, more specifically liquid handling technologies
• Experience in DNA and RNA extraction, QC and characterization through PCR analysis
• Able to work with samples at ultra-low temperatures (dry ice and LN2).
• Experience managing lab staff.
Physical Requirements

- Extended periods of standing or sitting
- Right- and left-hand finger dexterity
- Ability to discern colors or use of color correction glasses
- Ability to work with refrigerants (e.g., dry ice and LNs) using proper PPE
Your Working Conditions:
- Employee will be working in an area with potentially infectious materials.
- Employee will be responsible for maintaining a clean work environment for enforcing and following Universal Precautions for bloodborne pathogens when working in an area considered to be potentially contaminated.
