Associate Director – Global Supply Chain (GSC) – Business Performance Partner

The Associate Director - GSC Business Performance Partner is part of the GSC Excellence and Strategy team (GSC E&S) and is responsible for supporting the GSC group with analytics and insights to drive improved business performance. Results are achieved by embedding with business owners to create a data driven culture to formalize performance management and provide analysis to connect the dots in line with business priorities

The GSC E&S team plays a key role in our Supply Chain function by developing and maintaining a proactive data-driven, data-conscious culture of performance governance, insight generation, continuous improvement and decision support. This position leverages technology and systems to optimize GSC performance, including the formalization and adoption of key operational metrics & KPIs for use in monitoring and targeting performance across Gilead’s global supply network. This role will conduct analyses and develop data and performance models utilizing a variety of statistical and descriptive analytical techniques to support evidence-based business decisions that ensure responsive and resilient supply activities globally and is responsible to ensure performance management systems and analyses directly support the functions to execute business strategy, considering risk, service and cost drivers
The position demands a high level of cross functional collaboration e.g. across Global Supply Chain, IT and Finance to ensure data architecture, flows and the performance management support needed
This role will set the vision for analytics and reporting needed for GSC, in partnership with the business and leads across GSC
Responsibilities:
- Request Management & Delivery
- Request Management
- Develop and roll out framework for analytic development and prioritisation, from intake to requirements gathering right through to deployment, ensuring robust repeatable development cycle where relevant stakeholders are identified and engaged as appropriate throughout
- Identify and analyse stakeholders as part of establishing and rolling out a Governance for the Data and Analytics service
- Establish an integrated with GSC E&S monthly business review framework that is flexible across stakeholders from Executives to immediate customers
- Provide decision support and insights for complex strategy decisions such as network & capacity utilization, customer segmentation analysis, cost-to-serve
- Delivery
- Define requirements and work with Business partners to design, build and maintain the Analytics platform for Commercial and Clinical SC
- Create reports and dashboards to visualise key performance indicators (KPIs) related to performance of the GSC that feeds into the PDM KPI’s and goals
- Collaborate with Business Partners in solving problems whilst also taking the opportunity to influence solutions that deliver against user requirements
- Ensure a high level of data quality by participating in data validation exercises

- Communicate complex analytical outcomes and strategic insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and impactful manner.
- Develop a deep understanding of organisational operations and workflows
- Proactive regular engagement with customers to understand pain points, needs, prioritisation and expectation setting
- Support cross-functional business process governance reviews with data-based performance measures and actionable insights
- Collaborate with subject matter experts across the Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing (PDM) business area, Finance and Commercial.
- Work cross-functionally with the Master Data Management team to ensure business processes and technologies have reliable and current data.
- Align closely with IT to ensure best in class products are produced and tested before deploying
- Analysis
- Leverage data to discover patterns and solve strategic analytic business problems
- Execute sophisticated analyses and advanced modelling that result in actionable recommendations at the business process-level
- Use analysis skills to assess quality of analytics and reports produced by IT business partner ahead of testing and deployment
- Team Management
- Lead and mentor a team of data analysts and developers
- Manage resource allocation and project prioritization, ensuring alignment with business prioritised goals
- Lead the team in rapid prototyping, testing, and iterating on new insights to support dynamic business needs
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Provide coaching and training on use and interpretation of data/metrics
- Future of Data and analytics as a service provided
- Develop Vision and mission aligned with GSC, PDM and Gilead
- Develop and implement roadmap to evolve the Data and Analytics service whilst utilising best in class benchmarking, maturity assessment and action plans to evolve
- Establish a connect the dots approach along the value-chain through analysis, measurement and digitalization. Reduce waste and complexity and drive down cost.
- Develop data analysis, digital models and automated reporting tools, focusing on network and plan optimization, predictive analytics and simulation modelling
- Develop analytics and scenario modelling capabilities including dimensions such as time, cost, revenue and environmental impact
- Explore machine learning solutions that capitalize on data to drive performance optimization, supply chain responsiveness and service
- Drive innovation and change through awareness of industry trends
- Collaborate across Gilead Data and Analytic teams, creating, participating and engaging in a Community of Practice to share learnings, best practice and latest trends
- Change Management

- Leverage OCM and Training pillars within GSC E&S team

- Build a culture and a system of continuous improvement
- As part of establishing a monthly business review process, identify success factor KPI’s for the Data and Analytics service
- Identify areas of opportunity and improve data sourcing process and validation of data leveraging SAP
Experience and Competencies
- In depth knowledge of Supply Chain processes - 8+ years of experience leading supply analytics and/or technology operations management
- Experience working with large, complex data systems to aggregate, organize, and prepare data for use in business analysis and interpretation
- Excellent attention to detail coupled with an ability to understand the 'big picture'
- The ability to meaningfully portray and communicate quantitative data in graphical form
- Leads and project manages projects independently
- Comfortable presenting recommendations to diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated success delivering analytics tools, including predictive and AI tools
- Extensive background in data mining, statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modelling to drive insights from data
- Demonstrated experience in bridging business requirements and technical development
- Solid understanding of current industry trends
- Leadership qualities of the successful candidate include the following: collaboration, building and developing high performing teams, accountability, cross functional engagement and influence, program management, strategic vision, executive presence, coaching, goal setting and performance management.
- Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate on technical content and data with non-technical business stakeholders
- A Customer Service, Continuous Improvement and Change Management mindset
- Proven track-record delivering DnA utilising ERP systems and Planning tools
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree and 10+ years of relevant experience OR a Masters Degree and 8+ years of relevant experience is required.
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business/Computer Science/Analytics/Engineering discipline
- Master’s degree and/or professional qualifications in supply chain management
- Data Analytical and AI tools qualifications
- Project Management, Change Management and Lean Six Sigma qualifications a plus
