Senior IT Business Systems Analyst (Legal)

Gilead IT is looking for a Senior IT Business Systems Analyst (Legal) to support the General & Administration domain with a primary focus supporting the Legal organization’s IT applications. The person selected for this role will be collaborating closely with business leaders, the IT global capability lead, the IT Enterprise Platform team, and the IT managed service provider. The Senior IT Business Systems Analyst (Legal) will be a leader in the functional design and execution of well-engineered, tested, and deployed business systems to meet business needs. The responsibilities include gathering and documenting business requirements and business processes and collaborating with multiple IT teams to develop solutions and meet business objectives. The role also includes mentoring and providing direction to less-experienced staff on projects and acts as an advisor to the business. It is expected that this person with become the expert in their assigned business functions, including their business processes and tools utilized.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop strong understanding of Legal business processes and associated technology solutions.
  • Gather and document business requirements and map as-is and to be process maps.
  • Play a leadership role in the feasibility analysis for new systems/applications for a functional area, including understanding the implications for the current and future state.
  • Collaborate with the associated IT team to translate the business requirements into optimized solutions that meet the business goals and objectives.
  • Participate as a senior business analyst in IT investment, maintenance and enhancement projects for the related business domain, following the Gilead IT SDLC process.
  • Collaborate closely with project stakeholders (business partners, internal IT teams, project managers, technology vendors and service partners) to ensure quality and timely project delivery.
  • Serve as a functional lead or project manager on medium sized projects.
  • Serves in an advisory capacity to functional team members or project manager on functional knowledge/impact to projects/programs.
  • Accountable for the accuracy of project work estimates in assigned functional areas, and serve as an escalation point for major project issues.
  • Facilitate the governance of the sustainment of business areas’ applications by collaborating closely with business partners, SaaS vendors, and the IT managed service provider.
  • Continually make recommendations for system and process improvements and drive implementation.
  • Through partnership with senior business leaders and IT global capability leads significantly contributes to the development of business domain’s capability maturity model and 3-year technology roadmap and long-term strategic plans for IT support factoring in an understanding of future directions of the business area as well as changes in the technology landscape.
  • Plays a key role in advising the business on assessing and evaluating new technologies including engaging the appropriate IT and Procurement colleagues in the evaluation process, assessing the solution against a prioritized set of business and IT requirements, and facilitating the evaluation process to arrive at the best fit solution.
  • Contributes to organizational change management initiatives for supporting the successful adoption of new and existing solutions including user training, communications, and stakeholder management plans.
  • Develops partnerships with other business and IT functions to understand end-to-end business needs, processes, and ensure awareness of other projects or changes to other systems that may impact their domain’s solutions landscape.

Skills & Experience

  • The ideal candidate will possess excellent business partnership, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must possess a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in business analysis or a related function in Life Sciences or High Technology domains.
  • Experience with supporting Legal applications including Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM), Litigation Management & eDiscovery, Intellectual Property Protection, Data Privacy Management, Ethics & Compliance Management, Legal Policy Management, External Counsel Management, Legal Record and Document Management, Legal Invoice Management, Legal Matter Management, Legal Knowledge & Learning Management, Legal Data & Analytics, AI and ML usage to support Legal business process optimization and analytics
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Ability and extensive experience with facilitating and collaboratively participating in requirements gathering workshops
  • Good project management, cross-functional team collaboration and vendor management skills.
  • Experience with usability design and organizational change management are desirable.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio
  • Experience with use of Portfolio Management software (e.g. Clarity, Planview, MS Project)
  • Experience in Life Sciences and GxP compliant processes are a plus.

The salary range for this position is: $169,320.00 - $219,120.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
