About the Role

The US Medical Affairs Lead for Benlysta is the US Medical Affairs leadership team member accountable for overall medical strategy and achievement of the tactical objectives for the asset. This leader is responsible for ensuring strategic alignment across the organization and representing US needs to ensure patients have access and can benefit from our scientific advancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for US medical asset strategy and execution for all medical activities in the US driving effective alignment and synergy across the GSK enterprise where applicable
  • Medical leader on the Integrated Business Commercialization Team (IBCT) for the asset in the US representing the medical strategy and perspective and ensuring alignment to the commercial asset strategy as appropriate. Leads the cross-functional Medical Matrix Team to tailor/ adapt global asset strategy for US specific customer needs and environment.
  • Represents the US medical affairs perspective at global leadership team meetings, bringing a strong US view US customer needs and access considerations.
  • Working with Therapy Area Head, ensures strategic alignment of asset positioning and evidence planning with the overall therapeutic portfolio and disease area strategies
  • Leads medical engagement between GSK and external communities to advance scientific and medical understanding including the appropriate development and use of our medicines, the management of disease, and patient care. Coordinates with the field medical, payer, and policy teams on engagement plans and objectives in order to achieve asset communication goals and outcomes
  • Working in concert with the US Value Evidence and Outcomes (VEO) team, accountable for local evidence generation planning
  • Overall Budget accountability for Benlysta in the US. Prioritizes investments to achieve measurable outcomes for patients.
  • Effectively manage and professionally develop multiple medical staff reporting directly into role.
  • Applies sound medical governance for all activities and is accountable for medical governance oversight and sign off for all asset activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD, PharmD or terminal Advanced Scientific Degree
  • 5+ years pharmaceutical experience in medical affairs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Asset/Brand team with launch experience
  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication and leadership skills
  • Strong business acumen and experience building investment cases
  • Demonstrated relationship-building with the key medical/scientific experts
  • Experience working in a matrix environment and managing senior stakeholders effectively
