The Senior Director, Hosting Operations & SRE will lead the Infrastructure Operations team within GP&T Enterprise Hosting Services, overseeing the end-to-end operational responsibilities for infrastructure technologies and tools. This leader will manage strategic Managed Service Provider teams, providing 24x7 support for various services and technologies that support the business. The goal is to enhance the overall maturity of operations and improve the user experience.

This role requires close collaboration with business leaders and stakeholders within the Digital and Tech organization. The responsibilities encompass Identity and Access Management, Cloud Services, Network & Network Security Services, and Application Hosting Services. The Senior Director is expected to foster a full-stack resolution mindset and enforce ITSM process discipline within the operations team and among suppliers.

Your responsibilities include…

  • Develop and implement the operational strategy for hosting services, both in the cloud and on-premises.
  • Lead a team of operational leaders across various infrastructure technology domains.
  • Drive self-healing AI/ML operations without intervention and promote automated, self-service provisioning.
  • Enable tooling and practices to proactively manage, automate, integrate, and comprehensively test various operational procedures and tasks.
  • Eliminate the need for manual device logins or command executions, resulting in a more secure, robust, and maintainable infrastructure at lower costs and with increased efficiency.
  • Ensure high transparency through comprehensive logging and monitoring for infrastructure operators, application owners, and project leads.
  • Collaborate with business and tech leaders to understand priorities, requirements, and deliver on their expectations.
  • Champion SRE practices and foster a software-based operations mindset.
  • Promote a leading technology mentality, including automation-by-default and software-defined infrastructure, to deliver business value at high frequency.
  • Conduct multi-functional planning and execution with peer technology functions to ensure business outcomes.
  • Manage third-party relationships with external partners and suppliers.
  • Drive cross-functional operational discipline and practices.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical qualification with relevant experience.
  • Over 15 years of experience in Tech/IT.
  • Proficient in modern software engineering practices and cloud-centric infrastructure.
  • More than 10 years of experience managing large-scale operations for application hosting infrastructure, data centers, remote site facilities, databases, and identity and access management services, including single sign-on solutions and services, network services, and perimeter security solutions.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse audiences across various technical disciplines and job levels to achieve results.
  • Proven experience in leading and building robust teams.
  • Extensive management experience with suppliers and matrixed multi-functional teams located globally.
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency and the ability to handle multiple high-priority work demands simultaneously in an outcome-driven organization.
  • Over 10 years of experience managing strategic suppliers providing 24x7 operational support and technology vendor support contracts
  • Over 10 years of experience managing operational budgets exceeding 25 million pounds.
  • Experienced in managing infrastructure in both private and public cloud environments.
  • Proven track record in establishing SRE practices within the enterprise.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a solid understanding of its technological trends.
  • Passionate about enhancing the customer experience.
  • Experienced in initiating and delivering large-scale operational programs.
  • Skilled in operating systems and database administration.
  • Proficient in agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experienced in the DevOps operational model.
