Senior Specialist - Data Strategy & Reduction

Job purpose:
Within the Vaccines Clinical Laboratory and Assay Portfolio department (Vx CL&AP), part of Vaccines Research and Development, the Data Strategy and Reduction team is seeking for a Senior Specialist – Data Strategy and Reduction Expert. Our team is a cross-functional unit dedicated to developing, delivering, and maintaining digital laboratory tools supporting clinical research and laboratory processes by transforming data into actionable insights.
The successful candidate will lead the development, validation, and deployment of strategic laboratory data insights solutions. You will be responsible for overseeing each stage of the product development process, maximizing product value, and ensuring alignment with business priorities and strategic goals. Your expertise in Agile methodology, stakeholder management, and technical proficiency will drive the success of our data initiatives. You will foster innovation and continuous improvement in a regulated environment, ensuring our solutions meet both scientific and regulatory standards.
Your responsibilities:
- Accountable for each stage of the development process and for maximizing the value of the product.
- You manage the product backlog and prioritize items based on their value, in alignment with business priorities and product strategy.
- Spearhead and lead the development of data insights platforms as a product, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the laboratory and support our strategic goals using the Agile VFQ approach:
- Collect, challenge and record user stories (user requirements). Assess the value of each requirement and maintain/manage the product backlog.
- Ensure that the product backlog is clear, visible and understood by all the squad members.
- Prioritize the needs.
- Define and prepare sprint planning and backlog.
- Oversee the development of the product. Organize and perform informal testing and the validation of the solution.
- You get clear expertise of business processes,
- Consolidate technical expertise on the data insights product and directly relate and translate this to the applicable business processes, and ensure consistent and high-quality knowledge within the team,
- Consolidate and articulate a strategic vision for laboratory data systems within Vx CL&AP, aligning efforts and resources towards a common goal.
- Oversee and ensure alignment with the strategic vision, ensuring all data-related initiatives and tools are in sync with the broader organizational strategy.
- Responsible for communicating with stakeholders, including customers, business managers, and the development team to make sure the goals are clear, and the vision is aligned with business objectives
- You install and maintain strong partnership with business stakeholders, TECH, QA, …
- Take part in product governance (e.g. Steering Committee) and interact with senior leaders. Contribute to significant decisions which relate to the achievement of the product’s objectives.
Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Business or IT Engineering, or related fields,
- At least 2 years’ experience as a technical expert, preferably within a GxP-validated environment, overseeing product development using Agile (VFQ) approach,
- Delivery of at least 3 major releases (go-lives) in a complex and regulated environment (GxP), ideally in a large multinational company.
- At least one certification as Agile practitioner (Product Owner or Scrum Master) with extended knowledge of VFQ methodology,
- Full proficiency in French and English is a MUST,
- Familiar with data & analytics technologies, data fabric, business and data insights, and ETL frameworks (MS Azure, Spotfire, Power BI, …).
- Experience / knowledge in programming languages such as R or Python,
- Minimum of 18 months working experience in the pharma industry (clinical trial context),
- Excellent communication skills, ability to engage, influence and inspire are key.
- Ability to manage time & priorities.
- Results-oriented and ability to work under pressure.
- Very comfortable with the use of IT tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred qualifications:

- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team
- Desire to manage, coach, and mentor Business Analysts.
- Extended experience in validating complex IT solutions in a GxP framework (deep knowledge of DTMS methodology is a real asset),
- Ability to define detailed plans and drive their product team to deliver according to plan.
