Communications Specialist (1Y Contract)

The Communication Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing GSK Korea external communication strategy especially focusing on media relations strategy in Korea. Working closely with the Communications Head and managing PR agencies, the role involves engaging with lay and trade media outlets to ensure the company's messages are accurately represented and reach the target audiences. The specialist will help promote the company's brand, enhance its reputation, and manage public perception, especially in a highly regulated industry.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Media Relations & Brand Differentiation: Develop and implement media strategies to differentiate the company’s brand in the competitive pharmaceutical market in Korea. This includes positioning the GSK as a leader in innovation, patient centricity, and sustainability, while highlighting its unique value propositions. (especially in Vx, RX, and respiratory market)
Strategic Messaging & Positioning: Contribute to the development of corporate and brand messaging strategies that strengthen the GSK’s market positioning. Ensure that all external communications support the company’s strategic objectives and highlight its differentiation within the pharmaceutical industry.
Policy Environment Shaping: Work with the Communications Head to influence the policy environment and public health discourse by engaging with key stakeholders in collaboration with cross functions. Ensure the company’s voice is heard in discussions that impact the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare policies in Korea.
Press materials: Write, edit, and distribute press releases, media kits, and other strategic communication materials, ensuring they reflect the company’s brand differentiation and key messages
Crisis Communication: Collaborate with the Communications Head to develop crisis communication strategies, ensuring timely and consistent responses to media inquiries during product issues or public health concerns. Manage and monitor media coverage to protect the company’s reputation.
Event Organization & Public Engagement: Coordinate and manage media relations for corporate events, product launches, industry conferences, and public engagements. Ensure the company’s key messages are effectively communicated and align with overall business objectives.
Regulatory & Compliance Communication: Ensure all media communications comply with Korean regulatory standards, including those set by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), and adhere to GSK policies. Maintain a proactive approach to ensure regulatory developments are considered in strategic media outreach.
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
5+ years of experience in Communications preferably in healthcare industry
Sound understanding of mass media
Significant writing experience required, including experience in news writing/editing, report writing, and feature writing, in both English and Korean
Strong strategic thinking and influencing skills
Being able and willing to work under pressure and with a time limit
