Senior Scientist (m/f/d)

To strengthen our omics sciences team in Heidelberg (Germany), we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientist (m/f/d). The ideal candidate will possess extensive biological knowledge in human immunology and tissue biology, along with expertise in imaging analysis. In this role, you will lead and conduct complex scientific projects from start to finish, contributing to a deep understanding of human disease mechanisms.

This position is based in Heidelberg at Cellzome, which is fully integrated into GSK's Research and Development (R&D) and located on the campus of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). This diverse and stimulating environment offers a unique blend of backgrounds and expertise, fostering innovative and impactful research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct complex scientific projects using advanced multi-omics technologies such as single-cell and spatial omics to identify disease signatures and understand drug mode of action.
  • Explore and implement novel technologies, including image-based spatial omics, to drive research efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including lab scientists, computational biologists, and disease experts.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a relevant biological science or medical field.
  • Extensive experience in studying human inflammatory disease, including fibrotic disorders.
  • Expertise in single cell immunology and imaging analysis of human tissues.
  • Vast experience in designing and conducting experimental wet lab work, as well as implementing analytical methods.
  • Experience in leading and executing research projects, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary matrix team.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving research environment.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
